2011 Prius level 2 want to upgrade

You could take over her 2011 Prius, and buy her either the Camry or Accord. They both have a hybrid variant. Overall, the 3rd party car magazines (I subscribe to Motor Trend) are rating the Accord a better all around car than the Camry. Both the Camry and Accord have been redesigned for the 2018 model year. You should test drive both. Good luck in your car hunt.

I do like newer BMWs and Dodge Chargers, it has everything because of their selling prices. The new line of Catalics has the most seats adjustments and the drls are the most visible like the field goal post uprights. Serious reply by the way.

 

my wife loves her 2013 hycam, very smooth, comfortable and quiet. it is her second, first was an '08.

 

2017 RAV4 Hybrid is what my Wife drives now...and she loves it.

 

If comfort is your goal, a newer Prius, at least the lower trims, will not satisfy that IMHO. Some people here are happy with a Lexus hybrid too.
Since it is for your wife, be sure she likes the looks. My wife was horrified in 2016 when I was looking at the ugly Corolla. Unfortunately, that s=design appears to be the predominant Toyota / Lexus design.

I think the Accord is Honda's second attempt at a hybrid Accord. Toyota has proven itself as a successful hybrid designer. I do not think you can say that about Honda. They have tried many times and there have been issues. They have now announced (the third?) Insight hybrid.

 

An important data point is budget.

If your budget has some flexibility, a Lexus Hybrid is beyond compare.

The wife gets about the EPA estimates (28-31), while I was able to get 37 mpg. Not bad for hauling around 5000 pounds .

My wife balked at the 2017 Corolla and the Lexus is more polarizing, IMHO.

I almost mentioned your Lexus and then wondered whether I was remembering the correct user here. I used to say I have a good memory but it's short. Now, some days I doubt the good part.

 

She doesn’t see the front from the comfort of the interior .

We also Park in the garage, so very rare when the front is exposed.

We have 5 k miles on it now and she couldn’t be happier.

When she’s happy, I’m happy.

 

The RX450h says to use premium but at Club Lexus there are many that use regular without issue.

My wife does what the manual says, so that swap isn’t an option for us.

But that’s only for the RX450H. I believe the nx300h and ct200h was regular recommended.

I’m sure @Tideland Prius will know for sure so I don’t start rumors .

 

Good buddy has a 2012 ct and it runs (slowly) on regular. When you pop the hood it's turd gen Prius all the way, part for part. Interior is Lexus awesome with amazing seats, at least to my dimensions. Ride is tight and semi-sporty but power delivery is pure Prius. I think they are based on the Corolla Matrix and are tiny inside. Not nearly the utility of the Prius. Very cool car overall, especially if you don't need the cargo volume of a Prius.

 

The new Honda Clarity plug in hybrid is big, heavy and apparently has a nice soft ride! I'd check that thing out. Just saw my first one on the road last weekend, neat car!

That's a good question Mendel. Having a 2010-II with +140K miles and a 2015-4 with -35K miles, I notice a big difference between the two in ride quality and I know it's because the shocks/struts/isolators/rod ends are worn out (not shot) on the 2010. I hesitated to recommend this "unscheduled" maintenance though because most Prius owners here seem to think their cars don't need anything other than the minimum listed items...and because I got the impression PriusNP's Wife wants a new car.
