Has anybody heard of any news considering the gen. 4 refresh yet ?
Should be coming at the end of the year or at least the beginning of 2019 .

They made some changes for 2018. Some trim levels got the large screen from the Prime. Since they added some security features as standard and additional options in mid-2017, this might be the refresh.
@Tideland Prius usually tracks these things.

I'd be surprised if any PRIUS tweaking isn't done in conjunction with PRIME - but TOYOTA might have other ideas.

The Mazda/TOYOTA EV project (which I think I read includes Subaru, Suzuki & Daihatsu) could be influential to a delay or change in direction (& the TOYOTA/MAZDA factory in USA).

Who knows where BMW fits into this too - they're jointly developing the new Z4/Supra - which was tipped to possibly use hybrid power. Now a PRIUS SPORT spin-off from the SUPRA could be ... interesting.

maybe they'll rework the front end to make it attractive.

No these are just changes for 2018.
Refreshes are normally officially announced and have slightly changes to the exterior such as new designed head- and taillights.
Also slight changes within the interior, like color, new hopefully slightly bigger MF-Displays .
Safety Sense 2 will be on board and so will Entune 3.0 I guess.
Refresh of gen. 3 Prius got new head- and taillights,a new JBL-System,new much nicer seats, new much more crisp MFD with added information screens, electric folding rear view mirrors, additional sound deadning and the solar roof was finally available wit the 17" tires (at least in Europe) .
Maybe even more I can't remeber right now.
The 2010 Prius was revealed in January 2009 followed by the refresh at the end of 2011.
The 2016 Prius was revealed September 2015,so that means the refresh should come towards end of 2018 or at least beginning of 2019.

Intimations of immortality?? Things are starting to get exciting with these "new" directions being pursued by the auto industry. I wish my friends at Honda (we were together for over 30 years!) would once again jump to the forefront with truly interesting cars like the FIRST hybrid sold in the States, the ORIGINAL Insight! Maybe Citroen can make a U.S. comeback?! Ah yes, VERY interesting!! I really do want ALL these guys to seriously address our modern cars' weight problem; this is a truly immensely important area where far too little is being done. Maybe the government could "help" with a progressive "Fatso" tax on all these jumbo turds! That'll be the day!! And the car companies will absolutely LOVE it!

I’m still smarting from them not making the “v” the Prime

My guess is since the volt is refreshing next year the prime will also but probably just a few cosmetics like the screen

I hope they change to Carplay. Toyota seems to be deaf to this so far...maybe adding it to the Avalon refresh will be a preview of things to come.

If they make the seats small enough, the overweight drivers cannot fit, solving the weight problem.

Hmmm - interesting, and odd - not sure what Japan or US figures are, but Apple has only 35% of the market here, Android 65%.

I believe Toyota did not want to provide all that data to Google.

There was an article about that recently somewhere - it talked about the additional weight of safety gear, not just airbags (at 4kg (?) each), but extra computer components, a much bigger wiring loom, power seats, often bigger wheels et al - but mostly due to structural stiffening for crash testing. They've put some work into plastic/aluminium panels & high strength steel which can save weight.

My car's weight reduced by 20kg when I lost weight.

I could probably benefit a good deal from losing 20Kg myself, but I'm too lazy!
I'd gladly give up power seats, and larger wheels, and more money for my carbon fiber structure/body!! They can take all those air bags and put them where the sun don't shine! Instead I want a good pair of competition seat belts in my car. I don't need the 10 JBL speakers; two are fine. Get rid of the 11" display; replace with levers, switches and buttons. Give me a cubby for my Garmin. I want a new Solid State battery: less weight, faster recharging, and greater charge density. I only want 2 seater in this coupe/hatchback which shall not weigh more than 2000 Lbs (American). Toyota, send me the invoice, and I'll mail my check!

You could lose weight by getting one of these instead of the PRIUS - FIAT's better looking MX-5 (Miata)???

But it'll use more fuel than PRIUS.

Good idea; in my past, however, I owned a 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce, a car copied by the Miata. If I were to regress back to an ICE vehicle of that sort, I wouldn't hesitate to chase after the Alfa, a truly CLASSIC automobile. Sadly though, I'm afraid, this model in good condition is selling for $50-$60K, 10 times what I sold my little beauty for! I'm now in the technology mode for my cars, and a plug-in hybrid Superleggera Coupe is my next goal!

My best mate had a Guilia Sprint (1600) - was before I had a licence, and I spent many hours as passenger - including in the back seat - he wasn't tall, so the driver's seat wasn't all the way back!!!! He found it wasn't the most reliable of cars, though.
Photo not the actual car - but similar:
