This was good advice in the early days when supply/demand was in favor of the buyer.

But today a quick search of used 2010+ batteries shows pricing of $13-1500+ tax/shipping (some even want an additional upfront $350 core charge). That's nuts. Can get new, aftermarket modules and build a fresh one for about the same now. Nearly all recyclers are online and can check pricing too so the days of cheap, good used packs are quickly vanishing.

All modules you can buy are used. The current best source IMHO is Hybrid Automotive. They just started selling them and try to match vehicle mileage too.

The best kit for new cells is 2k1Toaster’s kit mentioned in my signature. $1600 shipped for basically a new battery after assembly.

Toyota dealers dropped their retail price of Gen 2 packs to just over $2,000.
That may be an option as well if they are willing to sell it to you.

That would be after core return.

Refundable Core fee is about $1,350.
The price I quoted is net after core fee and refund of core fee.

Previous retail price was about $2,500.
They decreased the price by about $400.

Each dealership sets their own prices and sales policies, so your mileage may vary.
