Thanks, Mendel. As always I appreciate your insight and feedback. This was my first tire purchase at Costco because they were a lot cheaper than Discount Tires. I've had warranty replacements before, just never at Costco.

When I had my gen 3 I ran tire pressures of 39 front 37 rear, any higher and the squeaks and rattles drove me nuts.

Thank you all for your feedback. I'm still torn between the two. Comfort and little noise as possible is what I am after. My wife prefers the softer ride, so if I can get better handling out of the tire, and retain comfort that's a win for me. I drive 82 Miles, 80 of that being Highway at 75-85 MPH, roundtrip for work here in the Dallas Area. So minimizing road noise is my main priority.

I got a set of Bridgestone turanza serenity tires from Costco and put them on our 2010 at 120 k miles. They are a special order through Costco but worth it;).

Nice and quiet and classified and LRR so mpg is good:).

80k mile warranty and there is still 6/32 of tread left at 52k miles(y).

Is there anyone who likes the stock tires that came on their Prius?

I didn't like my 2008 tires but they did give me the best gas mileage of the three sets I used.

I like the Toyo's that came on mine. Many here have a different view of them but I've had zero issues. They're quiet and good mileage.

I am buying a set of summer tires in the next month or two and plan on buying another set of stock tires for my new rims. I am hard of hearing and that helps. Lol
I find the road surface make a huge difference in tire noise. Concrete seems to be noisier than blacktop as a general rule.

Absolutely. I run mine at 37 psi in my Prime. I did 7 years of very high psi in my 2010 and while it did increase mpg, I'm convinced it massively added to the increase in premature rattles and strut wear. The Prime takes care of the high mpg out of the box so I'm opting for a decent ride and no rattles. With a cumulative mpg average of 142.63 for the first 5,381 miles, I'm very satisfied to keep the tires @ 37psi. ;)

People have been complaining about Michelin Premiers, but I have nothing but praise now for the Michelin Defender A/S. I took a 2 mpg hit for the first 5000 miles or so, now they're on par with the Bridgestone EP20 OEMs which I ended up replacing at 41K with 4/32" tread left. Greatly improved handling in wet and dry conditions, and after 32K they're at 8/32". Not sure if I'll hit the 90K rating, but they're going just fine here.

Thanks for that review. Is that tread depth at 32K correct though: they start at 8.5/32" IIRC?

With 5K on my tires, their depth was 11/32" (Rear) and 10/32" (Front)

I'm glad when I can hear a little road noise because I don't hear much else, just ask my wife. :)

Turns out it appears the dealer, Larry H Miller Toyota, was just trying to get me to buy new tires and I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I've been pretty high on them, but now that my free service contract is up they seemed to have turned into just another dealer trying to rip people off. We drove to Cocoa Beach and back without incident. Since I was concerned about tire wear, I had Costco check them today and they showed me there is still about 30% tread left. We may not get the full 60,000 miles, but we'll come fairly close and should have no problem next month on our trip to Georgia. FWIW, the handling of these tires is still what it was when the tires were new and so much better than the Goodyear's, especially the times we hit rain. When it does come time to replace the tires, I'm going have to give another set of these serious consideration even if we don't get the miles out of them.

You can get a tread depth gauge for a few bucks, at most automotive accessory retailers. They're handy, and you can use them for other things, like checking brake pad depth or whatever. I always start to get itchy to get new tires once they get below 5/32", fwiw.

These days our tires "age out" before they "tread out": still have the original Michelin Pilots on ours, with at least 6/32" tread depth, but their manufacture date was Feb of 2009, and they're starting to look pretty cracked, and bits of tread have flaked off.

When bits of tire flake off, change them! Your tires are dangerous...

Yeah I'm waiting on the Costco to start up the Michelin discount again, hoping it comes this spring. On snow tires right now.

Mendel, I have a gauge, but it's only red, yellow and green color-coded. I need to pick up one with numbers. :)

One set of aged tires actually got hundreds of tiny holes in them and as soon as one gave out, the rest of them went too. I should make some sun shields for the one side that gets the afternoon sun.
