Improvement over leaving it in your pocket? No, certainly not.
Improvement over having to remove the card from your wallet? Most definitely.

I certainly understand why someone that doesn’t use a smartphone would find this less useful.
However, it is still more convenient than an old fashioned key IMO.

I just don't see the convenience of the card on the window or the phone. Compared to the keyfob in the pocket or purse, lots of trouble. I often walk up to my car with my hands full. I'm going to fumble my phone and risk dropping it? Nope.

My understanding is you can leave your phone in your pocket. The advantage is, you have one less item in your pocket.
It is also less likely that you will send your phone through the wash than a keyfob, or simply loose it.
    Still happens, but less likely.

But I can reach into my pocket and press a button knowing which button from memory (it is the second from the end) to unlock doors/trunk via the fob where I'd have to be holding the phone in view to get the appropriate app.

Ditto for locking when I want to.

Getting out of the car in the rain, holding an umbrella and raising it takes two hands. Then holding it only one. My other hand reaches into my right pocket where the fob resides always and presses the button nearest the end to lock. All without even thinking or having to one hand a phone selection out of the pocket and select an app and then do its thing. The fob never leaves my pocket. I'm not stranded if my pocket with a access card gets pick-pocketed. I'm not looking at my phone walking through the busy parking lot.

I even leave the house and leave a phone behind.

I'm a simple man, only one house key on the key ring on the fob.

The idea is, you don't have to dig out the phone, nor do you have to click on any part of it. The existence of the paired phone, in close proximity of the car unlocks the car.
I am a fairly simple man as well, although I am more of a lazy one ;) One house key in my pocket and one phone (which would be in my pocket anyway). No fob to destroy in the wash, no buttons to fumble with when my hands are full.

Different strokes for different folks :)

amazing how they are constantly improving, unlike behemoth car companies who hold off until it's worth changing production.

funny thing I noticed about the mega charge stalls, when they are ½ full or less. When you have16, 20 or more stalls with folks charging, they'll all be staggered, every other stall. The reason why this is, is because every 2 stalls right next to each other get their power from the same feed. So if you are paired with another car, you won't get the full 120kW's or so ... you may only be drawing 65kW or so, unless/until the paired vehicle next to you is done & unplugged. Then your vehicle will ramp up chargespeed, presuming you're not already ¾ charged ... at which point you'll be dropping below 65kW chargespeed anyways.

I really haven't looked at either one but you would have thought they could have done better. I know Tesla has some bright people working for him and they failed. They will do better in the future I am sure, I am optimistic and want to see Tesla succeed.

Most the kinks are now worked out. Standard practice for Tesla is pushing things out before all the kinks are worked out. Works in silicon valley and techies who don't mind that stuff, but it won't be as smooth for mass market vehicles (as we are seeing a bit of with the Model 3 and inevitably will see more).

I FAR prefer the Falcon Wing doors over sliding doors, and most Model X owners I know agree. Especially the ones with kids.
They ARE more complicated, but they are so very nice in comparison :)

Did they fix the Model X doors or not. I see one go by sometimes but that's as close as I get. I would like to go to the Chicago Auto Show this year but I know that isn't going to happen. We live in exciting times as far as the automotive industry goes. One thing I predict is that the gasoline engine will loose this time.

    That is a difficult question.
Have you stopped beating your wife?

Our Model X doors were never broken. Most peoples Model X doors were never broken. Some people did have issues with the doors and as best I can tell it was at a rate higher than most other cars.
Unless, by "broken" you mean something else other than 'not functioning'?
