    Why not just 110 volt? That seems a little optimistic. Can you at least plug a vacuum cleaner into these? Oh well.

    Actually having no car would be a better goal for large urban areas. How does this benefit people who use transit and still have to pay for a service they have no need for?

    I agree, but that’s idealistic non-sense, we have to live in reality. Cars, now and in the immediate future are a necessity. And have been, for many years.

    I think that depends on where you live. Richmond, BC is on a rapid transit line into Vancouver as well as to the Vancouver Airport. It is very practical to use transit there and many people do. I agree that LA is hardly the place to rely on transit and having level 2 charging at condos is entirely practical, and worthwhile. It might well expand the use of electric vehicles there which surely is worthwhile.

    “ Have to pay for service they have no need for” One never has to pay, put better people in office to manage. also idealistic but, slowly doable. Personally I like the idea of massive revolution. Like the Communist Revolution. their was no improvement, but there was change, hell, one can’t have everything.

    Iv lived and traveled in Europe, predominantly Germany. Their public transportation system is good but still has the usual complaints, one of the reasons it’s better is because population is more dense AND less people own cars. Ever been in Copenhagen? the mass transit system there is a massive amount of bicycles, constantly swerving close to your car.

    No question that population density is the key to alternate transit forms. I recall Copenhagen and dodging bicycles also. Have to admit my favorite memories of there were the "Topless Parks" but I guess that makes me hopelessly chauvinistic. Oh well.....

    I would love it if just 110vac was at every spot but 240 vac outlets would be even better, give me reason to buy a portable l2

    If the SkyTrain is right there, why do you need parking spots at all? And there is nothing rapid about any of the trains in BC. They are properly called light rail and have no practical advantage over a car, in my opinion. No transportation technology is more efficient than the personal auto.

    Because charging an EV on 110V is painfully slow. A PHEV is fine but not an EV. You want incentives for people to ditch their gas guzzlers and 240V charging times will help.

    True but Richmond is not a large urban area - a good chunk of it is farmland. Technically even Vancouver isn't especially compared to Toronto.

    Also, you're living in a multi-unit residential building - it's no different from someone who never uses the gym or the pool or the multi-function room.

    Some condo units don't even come with parking spots unless you buy the more expensive ones so... it's already happening. But I think those are only near train stations.

    This is why I believe it should be outlets sitting there, they last longer and cost 1/10 as much

    You mean 110 volt? They would at least be useful for someone wanting to vacuum their car out, and allow level one charging, for the odd person with plug-in or EV.

    I think Canadian Tire has 110V charging spots. They don't label them differently so you wouldn't know unless you're a local. (i.e. still using the same blue EV Charging Station street sign)

    Unless you're an RV owner or recently renovated your home, I'm not sure too many people have had encounters with the 220VAC outlets. With the 2018 LEAF providing 240V charging with the mobile charging cable, we might see a change if other manufacturers follow.

    Both 120v and 240v would be ideal. I'd bet the 120's are great for those with block heaters, which, I gather, is a pretty popular option up north in the winter in many vehicles. But L2 at every spot? Wow.

    Block heaters are not very popular, I get a lot of "looks" actually. But yeah, good point.
