Questions about Prius Prime Options

Has anyone ordered a set of side moldings for their Prime? I see the Prius Shop wants $289. I have seen them on the net going for as lows as $176. Is this part# real PT9384716011. This would be for a magnetic gray Prius Prime. Thx, Ben

See: Side moldings | PriusChat for more details, I didn't order them for the prime but did for my Highlander, they were easy to install with care. The prime should be no different. This member did the install themselves and apparently had a similar experience.

They did come with detailed instructions Here's a link I found to instructions for a 2016 Prius. It will give you a feel for what the instructions are like. The part number is the same but I don't know if there were any changes for 2017.

I mentioned the lowest price I have seen was $160. Here's the specific reference to a Toyota dealer in my area that sells them.

You probably need to order them on-line. In my experience these dealers will not sell the parts to you at this price if you show-up at the parts counter, you can only get these prices through on-line ordering. Maybe some will.
Different dealerships offer different on-line discounts. Poke around at a few and you'll quickly find a set that offer the largest discounts. If you order from an out-of-state vendor, they will not charge you sales tax. These on-line dealerships have the lowest prices I have been able to find although the place I linked to for the instructions sells them for only $9 more if you prefer to avoid dealerships.

 

Thx for the replies. This will help fulfill my order. One other question, what rear appliqué did most of you purchase? I see 2 main choices . I have to pickup 4 dogs everyday on the way home from work, and don’t want their feet scratching the back bumper.
Also, why are the prices so much higher in the Prius shop in this forum?

 

I think the PriusChat Shop prices are Toyota list prices. I usually use Amazon marketplace or an online dealer.

 

FYI: If you use the charge mode while driving option, you will decrease your MPG quite a bit more than you'll probably get back just using the HV mode.

 

@bwilson4web seems to be a fan of using charge mode in certain situations, based on his testing.
