    • Nice to see Prius on top
    • i3 on sales hold pending seat belt recall
    • Overall sales trend looks down
    • Notice the relative peak in September, an annual trend
I'm not sure we're seeing overall sales down as another hypothesis is we don't have one market leader, the Prius, like we used to have. In effect, the total sales of efficient vehicles is the sum of all models which I don't track.

Big jump in the Camry Hybrid. Will be interesting to see the trend as the remaining 2017 units are sold and the 2018 units gain traction.

As a percentage of all vehicles in Nov 2017:
    2.1% - hybrids
    0.6% - EVs
    0.6% - plug-in hybrids
    0.5% - diesels

Product announcements are not sales. Granted Model 3 should set records, it remains a promise not yet realize although the S and X are doing well.

The rav4 and Ford fusion, seems to be neck to neck.

Comparing the rav4 and Prius sales, there seems to be a sharp rise in the demand for rav4, after Prius. I'm just wondering what that could be.

ytd prius is down 31K, but prime is up 18K. fusion, niro, and accord hybrids are up 23K, 25K, and 16K. Thats where prius sales have gone. I expect next year it to get worse with the 2018 camry hybrid and more primes available. My guess is toyota makes a bigger profit on those two cars anyway so that won't bad for toyota.

Rav4 has hurt the prius v up 5,400 and down 4,500 ytd.

The auto industry has been rocked by the impressive gains in SUV sales over sedans. It happens with gassers too.
