On my 07 I noticed my steering wheel controls don't light up. I've tried two known working sets and they don't light up either. I have changed my radio out and don't have the steering wheel radio controls hooked up but the hvac and info buttons work fine. I did change out my MFD for a navigation MFD I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Only issue really is they don't illuminate on the steering wheel. Any suggestions?

Don't think so no other issues in the steering area no noises like it's damaged no airbag light. Is there a fuse strictly for illumination?

Lots of things replaced. After which device replaced did you lose the lights.

Best Buy installed a new Pioneer Stereo in my 07 and I paid $15 for interface cable that allows steering wheel to stilll have radio controls. Works good. Steering wheel stereo controls is a must. You may have lost it with 5he new stereo.
I will check later for fuses in illumination circuit I have the schema5ic for the g2.

I would have posted this in the Gen 2 Accessories and modifications forum. Lots of stereo guys in there they may know, And use search forum.

I think I still have the original radio in the garage along with the other MFD. I will try both of those after Xmas. I also posted in that section to see. I'm still working on the wrong for the aftermarket controls no luck yet I've emailed the manufacturer. Honestly don't remember if they worked at all I was used to the layout from the other gen II I own.

I don't recall mine ever lighting up... but I've never looked for it either.

    Huh, maybe I'll go check.

I have the same problem but never spend any time finding out where the fault lies or if the old OEM radio would solve it.

They work fine, but don't light up. I think it is also since I changed the OEM radio for an aftermarket one. I think they worked with the old OEM radio + non-OEM carkit. The carkit is a model that has an amplifier build in that splices into the speakerwiring to play MP3's (and phonecalls), so I used that cabling that turns the Toyota wiring into ISO wiring already put in there by the previous owner/installer when fitting the carkit.

This was how I wired the controls and lights up for the android head unit no other harness was needed it was built into the radio controls.

This thread is a bit old, but I am having issues with my steering wheel backlights as well.

From the previous post, it would appear that one of the circuits in the above post affects the backlights. I installed the resistor as per the instructions between the white and pink wires of that harness, and all of my climate controls work. I can't make heads or tails of the wiring diagrams, does anybody know what I need do here? My plan is to only keep the car for a year or so, and I'll be reinstalling the factory head unit when it sells. So I don't want to chop up the factory wiring any more than I have to...which is why I'm foregoing the steering wheel controls.

The steering wheel controls are not backlit on my 08 Touring, but my Prius also doesn't remember it radio settings (I'm the 3rd owner, so who knows what glitches it may have).
