We're nearly into November now and Toyota's website is still showing the 2017 model Prius Prime... while several other models have been designated 2018 models. If the '18 Prime is be the same as the '17's Toyota could have easily announced the Prime as an '18 model on their website by now. I suspect changes are coming for '18 and they're just wanting to move the remaining '17's before announcements come out about the '18's.

The adaptive headlights would require an act of Congress. They don't pass the current, outdated vehicle code in the US. Luxury brands have had them for awhile now, but not here.

Which raises the question of how efficient are they? Aren't current PVs already absorbing non-visible light?

I'm starting to wonder if there will be a 2018 Prius Prime at all. Reason? As you may know have read Toyota recently announced that 2017 will be the last year of the Prius-V, and if you take a look at Toyota's website, under Hybrids & FCV, you'll notice that all Toyota models have been updated to 2018 models... except the Prius-V, Prius Prime, and Mirai which are still listed as 2017's. Only 5 more weeks left in 2017 so we'll know something soon. .

They just released the 2018 regular prius specs just 2 days ago. Maybe next week? (although is anyone actually expecting changes?)

Yeah I'm expecting a mostly carryover model so they probably want to count as many 2017 sales as they can.

Heck, they never advertised the 2017 Prime and sold a lot, so why advertise the 2018? Just saying . . . .

I’m purchasing a Prius prime soon (December). Been waiting to see if the 2018 will be any different before getting one. I know the 2018 model will be announced soon because it is on the list of vehicles that Toyota will be displaying at the LA Auto Show December 1st according to the website. Can’t wait to go see it in person!

In the US, the top two trim levels get the 11.6” HD display from the PHV/Prime. Otherwise, it’s the same.

Below is a short video of the 2018 Prius Prime at the LA Auto Show. From the little I can see, it looks to be the same as the '17. I suspect the only change the 2018 Prime will get, is its year label.

  13. Why does the video start out with a label that says "2017 Shown"? If the video shows that label beside the car that is being presented, then I am going to assume naturally that the model year is 2017. I am confused as to why the author would advertise the year in the title as 2018.

Yeah.. it literally says "2017 shown" right at the beginning of the video.

There is currently a car show in LA, perhaps someone there is blabbing? :)

I asked one of the reps at the LA Auto Show about the 2018 prime and they said it will be a carry over model. I’m sure if there’s was anything new worth showing they wouldn’t miss a big opportunity like the auto show to show it off
