I did, Anixter in Salt Lake City. While they were interested in us, we spent a lot with them. About 15 miles of fiber optics, and 55 buildings of copper wiring and LAN gear. Sadly, when we had everything wired, they lost interest in us and missed our growth over time. (gigabit ethernet, the Rodeo mine, VoIP telephony, and mobile wireless would have been profitable)

I have to confess that the primary impetus for buying the Prime was my spouse, who is an accountant, not an engineer. She really likes the concept of a electric vehicle because it's quiet, clean, and well-suited to our urban lifestyle.

That being said, she knows that I have a geeky streak and that there are enough bells-and-whistles on the Prime Advanced to get my attention.

I am not an engineer, although I attended a university known for science and engineering (where I earned degrees in architecture and urban planning.) I find this forum very useful because the Prime is a complicated device with many ingenious features which are not immediately obvious. There is a lot to be said to learning from other users.

And, while I am enthusiastic about our Prime, I don't consider myself to be an enthusiast -- at least not like those folks who subscribe to several automobile magazines, attend shows, participate in rallye events, and own a complete set of both metric and SAE socket wrenches.

Why? I have met and worked with many fine Swedish people when I worked for a company based in Sweden.

A surprisingly long period of my career involved picking up the phone, solving my caller's problem, then hanging up.
At a software house, I spent two years in pre-install, the Installer was going to take our data with them on monday, however much we had done.
(then I spent two years in telecommunications, where we wrote code to get from our app to the national distributor's system, which took me from one day to a year and a half, depending on how ready the distributor was. My brother took 30 years to write one, and the distributor still isn't ready)
Working at the mine, I rode with 21 other miners at random twice each day, so I improved their code as they could realize it could be better. (Lazy employees make great improvers)

Sadly I spent 2.5 years implementing Oracle Payroll, which at that time lacked a way to enter employee time, so I wrote a Time & Attendance app. (Yes, I spent 2 1/2 years doing T&A. We were the first in the world to get Oracle Payroll working)

As a stopgap, we bought a package call Business Objects, where I wrote simplified 'objects' and the end users could program with them. They got the reports they thought they wanted, and I had very little to support. It turned out that the users loved being in control of what their reports looked like, so I mostly created new objects for them. Very rarely a report would take too long and I would rewrite it to be more efficient. Most new objects could be written, tested, and used while on the phone with the caller. (in Business Objects terminology, the collection of all objects is a Universe, so I got the job title Universe Creator, always good on your resume)

Maybe that was after they sold the hardware part of the business off to Ameritech. I don't know if that wound up as part of AT&T, but that would be my best guess. They weren't too good at getting customers to pony up for the consulting part of building networks.

I know they changed focus, and we missed them.
We had a 3 person IT group and needed competent contractors.

Used to be a Mechanical Engineer. In 2002, I built a high efficiency gravity powered derby car (pictures below) for an SAE competition and won some prizes. Shifted to IT and applications development later. Wife is a physician and she is very attached to her 2012 Accord SE I4. I drive a Prime Premium (titanium glow). :)

This is a fun string to read! No engineers in our family. I’m a vehicle damage appraiser... returned to college to finish up my horticulture degree in time for retirement (huh?). Yes there’s no logic nor monetary gain in that other than finishing something I started decades ago. Electric/ hybrid enthusiasm started with our 2008 Prius and has continued since then.

Someone once told me, by the way, that chemical engineers design weapons, electrical engineers design weapons delivery systems, and civil engineers design targets.

That's always god for a few likes.
Does that mean software engineers design weapons control systems? ;)

I wonder how far we can take this...
Wireless engineers design weapons control delivery systems ? (I resemble this one, minus the weapons part.)

Architects design pretty targets, though. <G>

And the principal said "i want to see everything that happens in the new school from my office."
