Block heater 2016

I interpreted the post as if fitting a block heater it should be done at the factory or dealership.

 

Dealership install is a hassle too. Assuming it's similar to 3rd gen, likely the wipers, their motor and linkage, and the cowl need to come off for access. Then you fight your way through various wiring harness in vicinity.

Factory install with engine out of the car is so much easier. It'll take consumer demand, and that's likely slow in coming. There's almost an inverse adoption rate: it's sort of a point of pride: prairie owners saying they don't need a block heater. Or snow tires, lol.

 

Just an FYI that the new OEM Toyota part number for the recalled EBH is PU140-00913-1. I have found a dealer to install after two other dealers refused to install, even though I have the EBH. So yes Mendel factory install would be better.

 

Be sure to check they did not route the EBH cable through the grille shutters. We had a user in Alaska that had issues with that.
