The only the manual states is that if the battery temperature is below freezing, the traction battery heater will bring it back up to freezing. Note that it's battery temperature... so the car will probably have to sit outside for almost a day (assuming you used the car earlier) before the battery temperature drops below freezing. (I think for the Gen 4 had something similar where Toyota suggests that it might take a few days of sitting outside below -30°C before the battery temperature drops below -30°C and the Li-Ion models will require that the battery warm up above -30°C before the car can be driven).
what page is that? page 126 is something different.

And in addition I thought freezing was at 0 degrees C not -30 degrees C:confused:

    It's not in the manual.

You know, sometimes I say things over and over and I originally give the source and then I forget where I found it because I assume everyone's read the initial post? Luckily, this isn't one of those times. I found my source.

    -30°C is Gen 4 with Li-Ion

Page 126 in the manual doesn't specify temperature. It only generalizes and states "low temperature".

Cause the typical owner doesn't need to know? It's only ppl like us that want to know the nitty gritty details.

the typical owner doesn't read a 700 page owners manual.
your post basically makes the heater useless.
the manual makes it sound like the battery warmer will help forestall engine running, or perhaps increase ev miles.
