Seems Prius prevents an obvious use case for remote AC

I personally haven’t used the button on the key fob, other than just to try it, although I have used the app periodically. Most parking lots I park at are too expansive to be in-range of the fob.

Does that “AC” button fire it up to the last setting from the cockpit, or does it always fire up the AC, meaning cooling the cabin?

(Granted, here in Austin, TX it wouldn’t make a huge difference since it only occasionally gets particularly cold.)

I’ve interpreted the “HOLD” part of the “HOLD AC” button to describe what you do with the button (hold it down to activate), not what that function does with the AC (hold the previous setting while you’re out).

Yup, I know, I was just pointing out that the key fob is somewhat generic although the prius keyfob does not have A/C hold

It turns on the HVAC to the setting it was on when the car was turned off.

Yes, the "hold" is telling you that the button has to be held for about 2 seconds for it to activate. Our Camry's trunk button works that way, but it is possible to change it to just a single or double press in settings.
