looks like I have to start calling it "Climate" even though the key fob says "AC Hold"

sorry, that was an old picture for some other topic, that's the reason A/C is off, I leave the A/C on because of it's dehumidifying qualities:D:cool:

OK.. now I stand corrected... I just went to the garage and locked the car and turned on the AC Hold... it definitely did not turn on the heat pump to bring the cabin up to temperature.

So not only does it prevent you from leaving it on while you run in the store... but it looks like it will only allow cooling... not warming.

strange, since toyota usually calls cooling 'cooling'.

I’m kind of lost in the back and forth, but in 20s/30s weather so far I’ve had good luck defogging the windows with defrost on, A/C auto off, and fan on. The windows defog quickly without the engine coming on.

Real Winter Weather may present more challenges.

'defrost'? or floor/windscreen vent flow with fan?

The ‘button’ with the downward pointing arrow and the icon that in every other car means defrost.

    Geez this is complicated.

In the summer I had no luck with AC off, air blowing on
    yes.

Ok... just went out to try to clarify this for myself. I know in cold weather with EV miles left... and cabin temp set to 75, hot air comes out the vents. That has to be the heat pump because the ICE has never come on for me in EV mode. I feel justified in thinking if I turn off "AC" that the heat will stop-- but I'll have to wait till the morning to prove that... it may be it will just turn on the iCE because of the following....

Right now with no ev miles left the car is in hybrid mode, and if you turn on the car it runs the ICE to warm it up... from that point on.. it doesn't matter what you do with the "AC" button... you will get hot air because it will run the ICE or the heat pump which ever to warm the cabin.

The fob is likely an off the shelf part used for a bunch of models.

the only problem with your assumption is the fact the key fob says "Prius Prime" on it:rolleyes:

:sneaky: Not having seen a Prime fob, I'm guessing the name is printed on; something easy to change.
Likewise, the back cover with the Toyota symbol, and also be switched easily for a Lexus one.

Agreed. Whatever idiotic Toyota engineer put in this 3.5 minute delay should be locked in a freezer for a few hours without warmth. I would have been better off without this delay about, oh a hundred times in the 6 months I've had the car.

    Idiots.

I think that the meaning of the term "air conditioning" is dependent on where you are. In Japan, it obviously means "conditioning the air, either heating or cooling". In the US, it means "cooling". Don't know how it is interpreted in Europe.
