Featured New Lower Entry Price to RAV4 Hybrid Family (USA)

    Looks like there's a new RAV4 Hybrid LE model to compliment the XLE, SE and Limited Hybrid models. (Canada already has the LE+ Hybrid trim level since inception)


    Starting price is US$27,135 compared to the regular RAV4 LE AWD starting price of $25,810 ($1325 difference)

    Here are the differences between the two. The $1,325 looks like a decent value, especially when you include the extra features.

    that is a great value, especially with all the extra features. only question will be rebates, and dealer discounts. will they bring them closer together, or further apart?

    I'm pretty sure the standardization started in 2016 because the 2016 Prius Two ECO did not have it. Instead I was offered a 2016 Prius Three (with standard moon roof.) When I could only get 99 MPG, I turned it down and bought a used, 2014 BMW i3-REx that included their optically based, dynamic cruise control and collision avoidance. That was almost as dumb as:
    • Volt requires top trim and two driver packages
    • Hyundai requires top trim and option and can not be gotten in the fuel efficient Blue

    It was optional on some 2016 Prius. It is standard across all trims for 2017. They also later added TSS Plus as standard.

    The Ioniq doesn't require top trim for the collision avoidance in the US; just the middle trim with option that brings the MSRP a few hundred higher than the Prius Two's.
    The only reason blind spot and cross traffic is being offered on trims lower than Four for the Prius is because it is standard on the Ioniq Blue.

    My speculation is TSS-P as a standard feature, Toyota puts the other manufacturers in a bad place. Their attempts to up-sale with higher trims and extra cost option and special order jacks their prices up.

    Basically it's standard on all except Sienna (will be for 2018), Avalon, Highlander, Sequoia, 4Runner, GT 86. Except the GT86, the other vehicles do have PCS/DRCC/AHB/LDW but it's not under the TSS family suite. (just like how the Prius v has those features but it's not called TSS)
