Partially at least. Have not tested it completely but am definitely getting some parking mode recording now.

Interesting results. I have a load tester similar to what they use. It provides a result of pass but to recharge. At 50% capacity. Still the battery is never hitting past around 50% charge after extended drives

    Yes BUT......this is not good.
You have a very small battery, relatively, and if you park in an area where there is a lot of movement the battery could be going flat just from the camera. And that tends to damage the battery over time. Might cut it's useful life from 4-5 years down to 2.

Despite what most people logically think, 50% charge is effectively DEAD for most things.

Either your battery is shot and not actually taking a charge OR the charging system has gone bad.

Likely it will refuse to run at all very soon.

If still under warranty, a dealer visit is needed.......soon.

I do expect it may reduce life a bit. However 12 hours of constant recording (motion detected all day) would only be about 3 Ah from the 45Ah battery, so I am not too worried about that. But agree if it's not charging fully is a big problem. I was suspect of the 75% SOC on mine given it had been driven for 30 min before. Was hoping that was just an error margin of the measurement they did since the rest of the numbers were pretty good. 50% is definitely not good.

Exactly where are you getting that SOC number from ??

OK, so that was a one time reading and the experience of others here leads me to believe it's not very accurate either.

In order to "track" your 12 V system (battery) you need a multi-meter.

Today measuring 12.46 V about 5 minutes after I parked at work, which seems reasonable. (measured via the Torque OBD android app, which gives pretty close to my multimeter). I'm thinking the headlight setting for X time after you open the driver door may have been the main issue, depressing the voltage maybe for only a short time.

When I can find some time, I'll try to set up Torque to log voltage for a couple hours after driving to get a better picture.

I think those dash cams in "parking mode" are slowly killing your battery. If I was a dealership I wouldn't be too sympathetic to a warranty claim; that seems like normal outcome for a diminutive Prius battery, regularly used with the car off.

It's current state of health, as indicated on that print out, is not that good.

I would invest in and use a good smart charger, 4 amp level, and fugedabout "parking mode".

I skipped the whole connect to the car battery, rip up your car to install wires scenario by using two 26800 MAH 5 volt USB batteries for parking mode on my two dash cams. The batteries fit nicely in my glove box with the wires to the dash cams coming out.

I just killed and replaced the 3 yr old battery in my 4Runner from deep cycling it down to about 70% multiple times over a year. Don't discount the inability of today's batteries to handle deep cycling. It now has a dual battery setup. Small but multiple electronics can be battery killers.

Does the Prime, plus have a window showing the current SOC, as other Prii have had? if so, how to access?
