Anyone know the socket size for the wheel lug nuts?

My set goes up to 19mm and that is not big enough.

You missed it by 2mm. Size is 21mm.

A 13/16" (which equals about 20.64mm) socket will also work in most brands, but fits more snugly. I carry in the car a socket set which includes a spark plug wrench of that size, eliminating any need to haul the original lug wrench around everywhere.

    I carry both a 21mm and a 13/16" and a 25" ½"-breaker-bar (just in case) - well, $20 from Harbor-Freight was too good to miss!

I went with 13/16"; one thing I noticed: it was ok on the lug nuts but just a leetle too snug on the locking nut adapter. I ended up filing it's faces slightly.

Sometimes the lugs get raised edges and the 13/16" gets too snug.

Right. Typically that kind of damage occurs when the lug nuts are assaulted by a cretin at the controls of an impact wrench. Dealership mechanics did that to my Mazda when it was new. They replaced the damaged nuts, eventually.

Sounds like "peening" caused by using a socket which is too loose!

Just want to change tires for winter season, ended up with ordering new wheelnuts because wheelnut for alloy
comes w flat spacer. and did not fit to steel...size should be 12x1,5mm 21 mm socket i think. Car ready for the change winter wheels balanced and nothingshow must go on.

I don't worry about hub centre-caps for the winter steelies, I spray the hub-centres with Blaster goop

it prevents corrosion, and stops the wheel discs sticking to the hubs

The oem lugnuts often have a tapered end that seats into the steel spare tire wheel.

The OEM lug nuts will fit the spare, or any compatible Toyota steel rim, the Corolla steel rims for example. The only issue is they look odd: the dangling washers and all. I've been half-heartedly looking for some closed-end nuts, preferably in chrome, but all the generics are around 35~39 mm height, I guess to be one-size-fits-all? They jut out too much for my taste. A closed end nut roughly 25 mm height, or even less, would work.

The nuts I currently use are open-ended galvanized, Toyota part number: 90942-01007, but I'm not too thrilled with them. They have no shoulder near the base, so it's very easy when putting them on with a socket, to scuff the rim. Also, being open-ended, and with Toyota's lackluster rust coatings, the tips of the studs are visible, and rust up pretty quick. I've taken to putting a little spritz of oil on each, at time of install, and that seems to sort it out.

Regarding center caps and Corolla rims (I'm a broken record on this): 2" ABS end caps work pretty good, if you first push on something like a ring of rubber cut off a bicycle inner tube. I left the center openings unprotected for the first two~three years, and it was NOT a pretty sight, again: Toyota does not win any contests for rust protection.
