    Hey guys!

I have a 2011 Prius that I daily drove for 6 years straight. Unfortunately out of the blue, my car started knocking upon startup and after a mechanic's inspection, it was determined I had a blown head gasket. My car was also losing massive amounts of coolant.

My car was at 160k when this happened and was already involved in a previous accident. The cars value was at an absolute rock bottom even with a clean title. So I decided to do some research and read up on what my options were.

I purchased this three step coolant regime from Irontite.

My mechanic did all three steps and after the application of the second bottle, there was no more leakage. He also did an oil change.

It has since been 10,000 miles and my car does not leak a drop of coolant. I daily drive my car. I am very impressed at the overall effectiveness of this product and wanted to share it with you guys.

I can't say for sure it will work for you but if you were between a rock and hard place like I was, it surely does not hurt to try.

    Best of luck!

Best to patch it up if you are short the funds, glad this worked out for you. Hopefully you get another 200k out of it.

To invest thousands of dollars into a car that has no value which also has a hybrid battery that could fail makes no sense. For 50$ I have patched my headgasket and have put way over 10k miles with zero issues.

So, I just bought a used 2010 Prius in September of this year and on the 2nd day I got an engine light warning. Took it back to the dealer to check it out and he said that he just needed to reset it, and that all is well. In about two day I did a about 150 miles on it and I got a high temp. waring light. I stopped at a gas station and checked it and there were hardly any coolant in the reservoir. I bought coolant and filled it up, it almost took the whole gallon. That was strange so I took it back and asked what the issue might have been. Anyway, I now have to put coolant in the car every couple of days, and I cannot find any leaks. In the second week of noticed that at times when the gas engine comes on at startup, there is this loud knocking sound in the engine, for about 10 seconds and then it goes away. Sometimes when I press the gas to move off after a stop I get this same issue and a jerking movement in the front for about 5 seconds, and I can also hear the knocking sound. I hope this is not a head gasket issue. I just did an oil change and I think that the auto shop would have told me if there were coolant in the oil, because I cannot find any external leaks anywhere. Doing I have a head gasket issue? Can I return this car to the dealer I bought it from? What kind of recourse to I have? Can this issue be fixed with that 2 can solution that I saw above? I do not know where the coolant is going at all.

Hey guys wanted to report back. I drive from SJ -> SF(100+mike round trip) multiple times a week for work. I do not drive my car easy and average 75-80 on the fwy.

I’m at 176k miles right now and have had no issues for over 16k miles. I had some cash set aside that I was planning on getting a new daily with but I ended up just dumping it into crypto LOL . I wish everyone he best of luck and I am beyond happy with the results

You had two complaints: knocking on startup, and coolant loss.

Did your mechanic check where the coolant was leaking from? And are you saying the products you bought kinda like finally sealed the leaks wherever it was?

In my view, if it was some kind of internal leaks on the cylinder head or gasket area, the products you bought just concealed them for the meantime.

Sooner or later, it would suffice again.

The knocking has being taken care of also? That would be some kinda of miracle from those bottles. Maybe, similar to mechanic in a bottle?

As long as there's coolant loss, definitely you may have the coolant leaking pass the top cylinder gasket.

Try the three products purchased BG the OP, and see what happens too.

Try taking the car back to dealer and see what he says.

What’s the difference between SEALING the engine coolant system and STOPPING coolant leaks?
