Is the first picture what the black one looked like before you covered it? It looks very glossy.

Yep, thats how it came to me, pretty close to matching, if not the same, as the applique kits gloss

Too bad. My trim two has a matte black console.

Got mine today! It only took a week to arrive. I'm very pleased - no more white steering wheel bottom.

I wish they had matte black to match my trim two console.

You could always wrap or Plastidip it. For the price, You don't have anything to lose.

I agree. My interior is black. I ordered the shifter applique which is on back order. Like you, the little bit of white around the steering wheel buttons is fine with me. It gives contrast to the icons on the buttons. But the lower part of the wheel needs an applique, too.

Now that you've had it for awhile, is it holding up ok? Is the fit ok?

Seem to be fine for the plastic bit, the vinyl on the other hand didn't adhere well to the inward "bowl" part after some warm days here, so it kinda stretched when warm, but then when it cooled it contracted, it doesn't look terrible, I'll upload a pic later

OK PP, Just purchased the 2017 Prime Advanced and want to get rid of the toilet fixtures on the shift plate and steering wheel as well. And, like you, with my car being black on black leather would like a matte finish and not gloss. Did you ever get to do something to fix the "whites" to your satisfaction? Please advise. Thanks. (I'm in LA BTW)

Below is my installation in the UK (right hand drive) of the steering wheel appliqué. Purchased from this one of the two links currently on e-bay, from I suspect the same source in Guangzhou, China:

Black Car Steering Wheel Panel Garnish Cover Trim for Toyota Prius Prime 2017 | eBay

My console appliqué was installed by Toyota UK on purchase of the car at a crazy mad price which I am too embarrassed to declare here. Still, I thought I got a reasonable package price from them apart from that rip-off!

This one was £17.99 for a delivery to the UK. It's glossy but the same level of gloss elsewhere below the dash and around the centre console.

Arrived in 10 days from order. There are no instructions apart from the one on the website. bobthejedi's posts #25 and #40 here were very useful to know what to expect. It really is a very easy install with only a little care and preparation needed. Less than 5 mins to complete, including heating the 3M tape.

I agree with Craig21029 in post #47 that a bit of white around controls gives contrast to the icons on those buttons. This steering wheel appliqué keeps the driver's surroundings just a shade less dazzling.

Thanks to all who posted their ideas and thoughts on this thread.

That guy has more problems than the white showing. His steering wheel has moved fully across the car.

I think mat-black would look better. Me, I'll wait for the next generation, pray they come to their senses.

I agree. Matte black would better match my matte black console. I wish the gloss black parts of the dashboard were matte too.

Yes matte does look better..but it took me a lot longer to Plasti-dip this than buying an appliqué! :)

Pebble texture virtually matches steering wheel too.

I realise this thread might be dead, but does else wish this steering wheel appliqué was SofTex® covered? I love the feeling of the SofTex® steering wheel so much that I almost cringe when my hand then touches the polished plastic white.

Has anyone been able to buy SofTex material on the aftermarket scene?

I’ve never felt SofTex, but from what I read about it, it might feel similar to PlastiDip which is what I sprayed onto mine. It feels pretty close to the steering wheel itself.
