join the club, toyota maps have been out dated since they started using them. but the time they have a new release out, and you spend big bucks for it, it will be 5 years old.
Fear not my son, Mercedes, BMW, Mazda, Ford, Chevy, Lexus, and of course Toyota GPS's that I've tried, all suck the big linguini! Go Garmin, make sure to get equivalent to nuvi 3490LMT (no longer offered). Have had mine in 4 cars, now including my Prime Advanced for over 8 years (was able to replace battery myself with kit). Used in France with SD card. Put on lower left side of windshield, full voice command and system integration. Never used 2012 Prius plug in GPS, and now Prime: too clutzy and slow. I only see benefits in any GPS when i get close to destination where is it ....anything else is me doing guide.... It is something i never liked on any car and especially sunroof...but with my way buying cars i get stuck with this things In this scenario I'm lucky no sunroof If I need this i will buy roadster ... I know this thread is old.....this is not the map version. On the Premium and Advanced, press the Home button and then press the Options button on the top left of the screen Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Yep - then "Map Data" on the next screen. Mine comes up as map version 05-36-53, dated 2016-10-3 (which I assume, until this month's release, is the most current?)
Since Pepe lePrime is just 10 days old, when I saw Mark57's post I went rushing off to the dealer to demand the latest update. They spent over an hour trying to find it, no good: Toyota told them that there is no updates at all for the 11.6" display, and that the version dated 10-3-2016 is the only version that has ever been released for 11.6" display. Toyota also told them they have no knowledge of any pending update (although the policy seems to be once a year). So I'm scratching my (almost) bald head as to what's going on here ! Could the date of April 1 be of any significance . Or is it simply that all available updates are for the smaller screens??? I think I trust the dealership. They had 4 guys working on it, from the general manager to parts. I bought my two previous prii there, and they seem to be straight-forward.
2016-05-1 is my map version on my Feb 2017 purchased Advanced. Can you manually force update; if so, how?? .
On my Advanced, tap HOME button to the right side of 11.6" screen, then Options button near top left, then Map Data, near lower center of screen. Unfortunately it appears that each of us has a different version, mine is: 05-36-51, 2016-05-01. I'd like to manually update this app. but don't know how. I did update Entune about a week ago; no problem. .
It requires a physical SD card. See the NAV manual for the location underneath the NAV console. I'd wait a year or so at least. Compared to Garmin, they all are.
