Let's just say it's not for the average guy. It's a lot of disassembly & a steady hand with a soldering iron

Couple of mod's i was able to get done over the weekend. Starting of with the rear spoiler & front lip that i picked up off EBAY, went ahead & painted them blizzard pearl as best as i could. Think they turned out great. Also swap out the rear tail lights for older model one's to match my blacked out head lights, didnt install the orange reflector as that thing was an eye sore & couldnt pick up a clear reflector so didnt put anything but i think it looks great. thanks to everyone who pm instructions on how too do them; really appreciate it. 20170927_154529.jpg 20170927_154548.jpg 20170927_154604.jpg 20170927_154608.jpg 20170927_154622.jpg

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share you my Prius. At first, I never thought about doing anything to the Prius until I discovered PriusChat then I never thought about posting anything here, just wanted to look around. But after many pictures and cool awesome mods from everyone in the thread. I finally got some guts to share some pics of my mod Prius too!

Some mods were done a couple months ago and it just keeps I started with leather seats then wheels
I then installed Hella horn then fog lights then winow visors.

TRD sway bar was installed. It took me like an hour and a lot of sweats because I didn't bother using jack stands. Sort of a mistake. Made it harder to install but it works lol.

Then the folding mirrors were installed.
Thank you so much Masta Sean @sfv41901 for the folding mirrors parts and installation. They looks so great, adds safety and changes the look on the Prius.

Tom's strut bar and lowering springs were installed by @sfv41901 and @RightOnTime. Go Team Hybrid Pit!

After springs were installed. I wish I have taken more pictures.

I just love the fact that the bar color matches the color of the car.

Last weekend I just installed the JDM DRL. Thank you Peter. @clearbrapro for the part.
Zoom into the pic to see the horn!

Sorry for a long post! I'll keep it short next time! thanks for looking!

Changed out the front drivers wheel bearing hub assembly yesterday :). I planned to do both front assemblies, but the passenger side wouldn't cooperate :(. I was hearing more road noise translate at higher speeds and just did a tire rotation 3 k miles ago and the noise stayed in the front. So it was time.

Below is the front drivers assembly after 163 k miles on our 2010 next to the new assembly:

    IMG_0559.JPG

Our Prius has not seen very much salt (spent 4 seasons in VA and KS and would be garaged during the snow events). There was about a 1/16" play in the assembly once I had it out.

The drivers side wasn't bad, but then came the passenger side . The old hub came off easy, but the axle nut is punched and caused the threads to marr. Had to file the threads to ensure more damage wasn't done;). When trying to fit the new assembly on the axle splines, there was impingement which left a 1/8" gap between the axle and hub being flush:(. Tried filling both down, but no dice.

This assembly wasn't bad, so put the original back on and punted til a later date.

Some tips if tackling a hub assembly:

    • Disconnect the 12v battery
    • Rotate the wheels as the 4 hub bolts are harder to access if the wheel is left straight
    • Buy 2 axle nuts as the ones in use cannot be reused.
    • Drill out the punched axle nut prior to removal so the threads do not get marred:
    IMG_0560.JPG IMG_0562.JPG IMG_0563.JPG
    • Make sure the hub assembly will engage the axle before tightening the 4 assembly bolts
Test drive showed the drivers side was fixed and quiet(y).

For sure have the new nuts on hand, and for sure don't try to loosen them without unstaking them first (axle replacement is an expensive PITA).

If drilling out the staked portion seems too fiddly, an alternative is this handy little tool. (As an extra bonus, though not on a Gen 3, if you have a Gen 1 or 2 it is just the right shape to lift up the brake shoes a little for sneaking grease onto the backing plate contact pads.)

Thank you picked them up from a friend of mine for a steal of a deal and I've only came across one other person in my area with them so overall I'm happy.
