Is 90k or 100k more comprehensive for a 2013?

    i just hit 90k on my 2013 after a month and a half of owning it (a lot of unexpected traveling) and I was planning on just doing the standard oil change, tire rotation, and multi-point inspection, and I thought 100k was the big one with a lot of recommended services. However, I’ve been poking around various Prius-related boards and I’ve been getting the idea that 90k is more comprehensive than 100k. I’m going to flip through my manual, I just don’t want to get taken for a ride for service. I got a coupon from the local Toyota dealership for a discounted oil change, I was planning on just taking it to the place down the street which is a regular mechanic, told me he can’t really do hybrid stuff, but I figured I’d use the coupon.

    I used to own a POS Hyundai and I didn’t know any better, and the scammer dealership would charge me $500 per regular service visit. Screw that.

    At the dealership, 90k is usually an
    - oil change
    - tire rotation
    - engine and cabin air filter replace
    - top fluids off

    (This is for your personal DIY)
    - transmission drain and refill
    - brake sliding pin lubing
    - brake flush
    - inspect your vehicle from top to bottom and replace any necessary parts that are burnt or broken, i.e light bulbs, wiper inserts, plastic broken trims etc etc.

    Not sure if I am missing anything else, but add what you need.

    100k is the bigger one. or 120k, you'll need plugs and fluids.

    120k was was the big one for me, sparkplugs and transmission fluid.

    I’ve been calling around and getting quotes from anywhere between $135 all the way up to $700 for 90k mile service on the 2013 Prius which is crazy. Is it normal to get such a fluctuation of prices? I’m just calling all my local Toyota dealers.

    yes, most dealers make up their own schedule, so it's not apples to apples. the 135 is probably correct, oil and filter, air and cabin filter, tyre rotate and several inspections, which they may or may not do.

    you should ask them what services they're doing for each cost. That way you can post up what they do on here and we can do the break down for you. Of course its cheaper to do it yourself, most of the service writer will add their own interpretation of services so they can get commission off of it. The more services they sell, the more commission $ they get. So be prepared for upsell services that isn't required lol.
