    Hello everyone,
I came to this forum full of hope that i can find an answer for this issue,
It all begin when i replaced a front weel stud/polt when one of the 5 broke.

I confess that i handed this job to unskelled mechanic , after almost 100km i started hearing weird noise like this in the video

This noise comes when lightly pressing the brakes almost 70% of the time and when the wheels are turned to anyside it always appear.

I visited sever mechanics and till now i changed the knuckle, the bearing , the rotor and new pair of brakes , and it disnt go away unfortunately

Anyone have an idea about this issue i would be thankfull for him , i spent almost 500. $ till now

try bleeding the brakes, and re-lubing the brake hardware if it hasn't been done so. Seems like the noise is more brake related than any other system... I've heard of that noise before as if its the abs system or something but I'm not too sure. I'm not sure if its a common noise on the Prius since I've heard of it before, I'll confirm with you once I drive enough and hear it again.

I just checked, it's a normal noise for the Prius. Mine has the same noise.

Yup, mine makes the same noise at low speed, it's probably the hybrid side that's making the noise. On conventional vehicles, you don't hear these noises.

It doesn't seem normal to me ... at the same time, it seems quite mechanical and as if it would not be too hard to track down. It seems related to the rotation of the wheel, and slows down as the wheel does.

Has the brake disc runout been measured? What was the measurement?

The noise doesn't sound to be a squeaking or squealing noise like metal touching the pads. Its more of a hybrid whinny noise. Mine makes that noise while at a low speed like 1-5mph speed. You will hear it with your driver side window down. It sounds normal to me. Let me know if you hear it.

Mine do this to! I think lub the brake pads could improve this.
I gonna buy the grease and test...

Maybe we're listening to different things in the OP's recording? I'm listening to the repetitive scraping sound that starts around 5 seconds into the recording (I deleted the first 5 secs so 0.0 in this picture is 5 in the original). I've drawn in down and up violin-bow marks where I'm hearing the two sounds of the repeating scrape, see how they get farther apart as the car slows to a stop, seeming to be tied to wheel rotation:

I listened in my Gen 3 with the window down and I didn't hear anything like it.

I’ll find one of the days to record it and post the noise of my Prius on here. Let’s compare it.

I did heard a faint whinny noise in the beginning, but I’ll have to record and post mine and you let me know if there’s anything abnormal.

    For update
I changed the whole hub with new bearings and the whole brake caliper thing, and no hope

I tried to hunt the sound down and i managed to record this

you can clearly hear a clunk noise when pressing brakes and turning the wheels .

    So any suggestions

How much pad life is left? If you turn the wheel without pressing the brakes the noise is not there? When reassembling the brakes, did you lube the components?

Is it only on one side or both sides with that noise?

Ok, that sounds like something completely different from the sound I thought you were asking about in the first video.

This sound is coming when the wheel isn't rotating at all, and it does not seem brake related at all, to my mind.

The stresses on all the steering components are at their very highest when you are steering a stationary car on a hard surface, as here. What are the conditions of your ball joints, tie rod end joints, stabilizer link end joints, and strut support bearings?

Or, for that matter, the bushings on the stabilizer bar and the lower control arms? The stabilizer bar does twist as you steer (a consequence of the geometry of where the stabilizer links attach to the struts, and designed that way for its roll-countering effect), and this also means raising and lowering (on opposite sides) the control arms slightly, when steering a stationary car. That sort of repeating toing-toing-toing noise in my mind can be characteristic of that sort of bushed joint being moved very slowly under stress, with inadequate lube, perhaps.

For the noise in this video, I would be looking at any of those things before the brakes.

When you changed the hub, did you have any of those components (such as tie rods) disconnected, or did you do the hub replacement with all those parts undisturbed?

I have changed the whole hub thing with its original tie rods, and it didnt solve the problem.
It alway starts when i drive the car for a while , it starts with that sound i posted earler then when i come to a full stop i can hear that one sound i just posted ,
I have been to several mechanic shops with no success, it drives me crazy

These are another videos i just recorded after a 1 hour drive

This one when i come to complete stop

And this one when i press the brakes half way getting down a steep road

Ok, now both of those sound like the same sound as in your clip in post 1, that I visualized in post 12. A little changed perhaps, slightly sharper now, more scrape-y in post 1, but apparently the same phenomenon, and very likely brake-related. Have you measured the run-out yet? What were the measurements?

The sound in post 14 still seems to me like something unrelated. A car may simply have more than one issue (which can drive you crazy if you think you are trying to identify one).
