Tried installing the OCC... no room!...

    Thanks. The Air Oil Separator function on another car I'm familiar with. Takes the crankcase vapors, separates the oil from the vapor and reduces the oil that is sent to the air intake.

    If you want to install the oil catch can accessible from the top, and don't mind a slightly obscure location, sort-of tucked under the windshield cowl, there's a small diameter threaded nut tack welded in the shock tower. Above it is an open hole, which could be used for a secondary locator pin.

    That location is a little to close to the engine, especially since the engine shifts a bit, but maybe you could put in a plate bracket, cantilever back, just enough for clearance. Again, it's less than ideal accesibility, but a fair bit of room back there. Bit of a run for the hoses though.

    I've got a catch can on the way; myself I'm thinking to install lower, accessible from below, say during oil changes with engine underpanel off. But still thinking about it.

    Hah, you posted that before, I'm not paying attention. That's a nice location, with threaded hole and all. I was wondering if it was too close for comfort, the engine would be tapping it, but looks like it worked for you. (y)

    later on I wrapped a little piece of metal around the hose where it touched the engine (secured with a hose clamp)/
    rather safe than sorry..../

    I'm probably going to mount mine on the cross beam at the bottom, more-or-less directly below the pcv valve. I don't think I'll find any tapped holes, will need to drill I think. It makes for easy/short tube runs, and I'm under there with the underpanel off, every six months for an oil change.

    yeah I don't see those holes are threaded, you will need some threaded inserts for them. I'm still trying to do it but have no time lol.

    One is threaded. It's close to engine though, for clearance, as you can see from starcaller pic.

    It's M6 thread size, I tried it. Only one hole is threaded there, several are just open.

    I'm thinking to remove and clean manifold immediately prior to OCC install too. I pulled off throttle body and wiped out that pool, but want to do complete cleaning. I'm still thinking I can remove manifold without coolant lines being disconnected from throttle body. Will see...

    When I pulled off the intake manifold and throttle body, when I disconnected the coolant hoses I just stuck a bolt in them to keep em from leaking coolant! Simple cheap and easy if you've got a pile of bolts laying around like I do!

    Some tapered conical plugs would be a great gizmo, a one-size-fits all. Still, there's that "moment of excitement", between pulling off the hose and getting a plug in.

    Yeah still, I'm thinking you can just lift off the throttle body and lay it to the right side, it may be out of the way enough. We'll see lol.

    Hose clamp em..lose very little if any...mostly out if Idle control valve under throttle body but not much at all.

    I took the manifold off tonight, no problems with the coolant lines connected to throttle body, just pulled it off to the side. If you need to remove throttle body sure, but just for clearance to remove intake manifold, you don't need to.

    I'm pretty sure I'm going to mount it on the lower cross beam, basically so it's accessable from below, during an oil change with the underpanel off. Pity though, it's so pretty.

    If I mount to the side of that beam it's drain spigot is bumping the underpanel, so I need to fashion and angle bracket, mount that on the top of beam at the rear edge (drill into it and use some tapping screws), then attach the OCC bracket to the angle bracket's upstanding leg. I'll take pictures, however it turns out.

    Pull off wipers and it would be the Perfect time to knock out EGR valve, cooler and pipe...mine really needed a good cleaning...

    Got it done, and cleaned intake manifold too. Many thanks to @NutzAboutBolts for the invaluable videos!

    Some pics. There are some oblong openings on underside of that beam, so that it's JUST possible to use thru bolts:

    ^ I was very nervous about drilling these holes, it's quite a reach, and even with coolant hoses pushed out of the way as much as possible, my bulky (corded) drill was maybe slightly off perpendicular.

    I centre-punched the holes locations, as best I could with a spring activated center punch, just reaching down. Then for good measure I put my regular centre punch on the end of a 1/2" rod, reached down, and hammered the marks a little deeper.

    Still leery, I decided to mount a 1/8" bit in my Dremel, do a pilot hole. Then, especially since one of them seemed slightly off the mark, I opted for a 3/8" drill bit, for 1/4" bolts. The hole tolerance on the slotted angle is a little tighter. This was just a bit more forgiving, slightly over-sized.

    ^ I was JUST able to feed 1/4" bolts and washers in from the underside, there's oblong openings, but pretty tight. Then washer and nut from above, put ratchet on that, and reach in with a box wrench, BARELY able to get a purchase on the bolt head through the openings, stop them from turning. It worked, lol.

    ^ Coming along. Installed the underpanel, to verify how low I could drop it in the bracket, avoid the drain spigot bumping into the underpanel.

    I like your storage method for your manuals:p.

    I use old tin cans, but painters tape and shelf space works well(y).
