Neighbor, please!!! What I need is a Prius Prime Advanced 2-seater coupe, with a yet bigger battery and a hatchback. Now that would be truly wonderful!! Think of the performance coupled with improved mileage due to lighter weight!! I must have one Now!!

the car seats 4 because 5 would overload it. as it is my five seater 07 prius had 5 people in it exactly once because it handled significanly worse on that trip.

I'll be hauling kids around, once in a while a third. The three kids will make up less than one average adult (160-200lbs.)

I guess I'll have to find someone with a non-pip willing to test fit the seats.

since its for children its more than putting in a different seat. you need at least a lap belt in the middle position and those are anchored to the car.

It would be cool to convert the back somehow to add an extra seat. I think there is enough space so it should be possible!!!

It’s obviously possible but Toyota purposefully didn’t do it to keep weight down.

IIRC, the Prime has charging equipment underneath the middle section so trying a simple seat swap from non-prime prius wouldn't work. Plus, you won't have the necessary 3rd point seatbelt mounts making this an unsafe idea.

Yeah but also a lot of empty space that’s filled with a chademo charger and solar battery in non US spec versions.

So are you saying there's nothing underneath the center section?

Worth noting that the charger and (on solar panel equipped cars) the solar hardware goes where the Liftback's battery goes.

I wouldn't be surprised if you actually could put the Liftback's seat in a Prime.

No. There’s obviously a charger there. I haven’t opened mine up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lot of empty space there. Toyota didn’t package this car incredibly well

still concerned about how you are going to anchor the middle seat belt...

My guess is that the anchor points are still there in the unibody, given that it'd be more expensive to make a different floor stamping (and had Toyota made a different floor stamping, the packaging could've been vastly improved).
