Gas has gone up about 30 cents around my area in the last week. $2.39 now. I assume a result of Hurricane Harvey. But won't the winter blends be coming along soon?
Yeah the Hurricane has gas up to 2.59 in our area and I'm sure it's going higher. Yeah the winter blend makes it go up then the summer blend makes it go up, the leaves changing color makes it go up, actually I'm SHOCKED the Eclipse didn't make gas go up LOL. Can't believe they missed that one.
Based on rumors, Dallas/Ft. Worth has a rush on the gas stations and created a shortage. Atlanta is doing the same. I'm expecting the FUD to spread. Bob Wilson
That is because your location is outside the path of totality. 'They' didn't miss it. Go to GasBuddy's Charts, and select a 1 or 3 month chart for Salem Oregon:
If you didn't see a price hike during the Colonial pipeline fire a couple of years ago, you won't see a price hike this time. I'm pretty sure the NorthEast uses local refineries and ship imports. Bob Wilson
can't remember, you may be right. we've been stuck around $2.40 for quite awhile iirc. of course, i haven't filled up since april. it really irritates me that i have to burn 3 gallons of gas by late october, just to clear it out of the system.
On social media. <facepalm> Was at a football game last night and people sitting in front of us were frantically pointing at the social feed on the latest storm tract plotted (falsely) straight at us again. Since I had just watched my the local TV news meteorologist who informed me about this "fake news", I just kept quiet and enjoyed the game Don't fall for fake Facebook post on Hurricane Irma hitting Houston - Houston Chronicle
I read an article that these gas price hikes are temporary and prices should move down and stabilize soon...
Anyone who has seriously watched NOAA's past 3-day and 5-day forecast tracks and cones, ought to notice right away that this item is a 13 day track.
$2.26 to $2.89 in one week here but you all own Prii so you'll barely notice it. Just noticed the crazy pricing. Reported Gas Prices 2.89 9/10 Regular 2.53 9/10 Midgrade 2.79 9/10 Premium
Even before Harvey, our country was importing 10-11% of our oil. So it doesn't take much loss of capacity to have an inordinate effect on prices at the pump. So now we get to run the experiment. Can elimination of environmental rules and regulations resolve our oil addiction? Regardless, 'reality training' continues. For what it is worth, our BMW i3-REx picked up 15% charge while I was at Whole Foods this morning. Back on home charge, it just reached 100% SOC. And I saw $2.45/gal on the way home, previously $2.05/gal. I'm still paying $0.10/kWh, same as it was last week, last month, and last year. Bob Wilson
Do we think that this recent increase in gas prices will translate into a bigger demand for Prius cars? Maybe those crazy incentives will go away now... also, all those people in Texas replacing their sunk cars may now turn to Prius?
There will probably be a bump that will soon enough, evaporate. Never underestimate the ability of some to ignore painful memories. Bob Wilson
