I know I'm going to add stuff as I have time, but just wanted to make the announcement that on Monday, August 28th, I adopted a new Prime. The really great people at Smart Toyota in Madison, Wisconsin, took really good care of me. The first trip was from Madison to my Chicago suburb. No tollways or interstates, mostly playing with the cruise control, entirely Hybrid Mode, 104 miles, 79mpg. Here's a picture of him charging at work. Expected to be a daily occurrence. Advanced. Because I plan to keep cars a relatively long time, my philosophy is to spend the extra money now on things that will most likely be standard equipment by the time I trade it in. Not only does this remove the "I should have..." syndrome, it just might help trade-in or private sale down the road.
Oh, that was your Prime! I was there hoping to order one, and if lucky see one, as they sometimes have one that somebody hasn't yet picked up. The last one was gone too quickly. The salesman pointed across the street and told me that red one was waiting for someone. We were outside looking for examples of the moonstone interior, but of course we only had regular Priuses to view. He told me the red Prime had a black interior. As I left, I decided to swing by and get a closer look at that Prime. No, he was mistaken. It had moonstone interior. I had already seen a red one before (in the wild). Meanwhile, I remember you mentioning that you were out of town and could not pick up your new car right away. Now I know that I peeked at Tony's Prime. Congratulations! And I agree about getting all the extras for the exact same reasons you have. That's also why I prefer to buy new cars, to get the latest features sooner (once I'm ready to buy a car).
It seemed almost challenging to get Hypersonic Red with Moonstone interior but I'm really glad I did. Not only does it break it up, the bone china things don't seem offensive against the white SoftTex.
Congrats, Tony. Welcome to the PRIME family. Hope your stay in Nebraska was a good one. RED looks really sharp.
When I first saw the title I had 2 thoughts. 1. Is @TonyPSchaefer a dedicated moderator to keep the wild Prime users in check? or 2. Is @TonyPSchaefer saying he is the first or best moderator? Enjoy your new wheels.
i was excited when danny bought a pip, but he never posted until the o-ring wouldn't allow him to charge.
Congrats Tony and welcome to the Prime Club!! And thanks for all of the work you put into making this such a great place. Cheers, Bryan
Well.... it is about time, Tony! Another Chicago area Prime cruising the roads. Congrats on the new car and I know you'll love it. Got 2,500 miles on mine already since I picked it up 6 weeks ago.
I've put a bit of thought into this, in fact. My intent is to get to the exact same spot of the exact same road and try to get the exact same shot.
