Optima site shows no match, but I've heard folks mention they've used a yellowtop battery, but they didn't mention model #

Can someone say with 100% certainty that the DS46B24R is the right battery for a Plug-in? When I wrote to [email protected] back in December they replied "For a 2012 Toyota Prius the Yellow Top DS46B24R is suggested." Maybe one of you guys can get a clearer answer from them.

Tried that and their battery finder has nothing for the plug-in. See photo...

Same here, I suppose. In fact, I should explore that sometime and see what's actually in there. Todd will know almost for sure.

You are local to Todd to I figured you could prod / bribe him for an answer. If he can put Gen 4 battery cells in an older Prius, he should have the answer to this.

Well, to be perfectly accurate, they were gen 3 (2015). I'll send him a text tomorrow if he doesn't show up here first. He's pretty busy and doesn't check in real often.

Since we were talking about owners manual books in another thread and you provided a link to McGeorge Toyota, I thought I would merge the 2:):

Response to @Prodigyplace -- "You are local to Todd to I figured you could prod / bribe him for an answer. If he can put Gen 4 battery cells in an older Prius, he should have the answer to this." The cells in the battery I installed in my wife's '07 (Gen 2) came from a 2015 (Gen 3) that had been totaled. Todd "just" moved them from the 2015 battery case to a Gen 2 battery case and then may have balanced it, but being that new, it may not have needed it. Runs GREAT.

And it looks like @Mendel Leisk has sniffed out the solution to the 12V battery question, so I won't bother Todd. I saw no reason for the PiP to be different, but it's better to be sure. Thanks, Mendel. Great work. I took a couple pictures of mine for reference, but I didn't go to the bother of pulling it out for a better look. I don't know if it's the original, but I think it probably is.

gotcha, thanks. i think pp was talking about todd's experiment of using gen 4 cells in a gen 3, which was successful.
    or maybe i'm totally confused.
