Even better, with MoviePass $9.99/month deal, you can watch all you want as long as it's one a day! :D

P0A80 can't cure itself, it only can get worse. Like a bad 12v battery, it will only get worse, not better

Lol that deal is horrible since not many good movies come out every month. Plus there's always torrenting

Ok, I will bite. I actually didn't realize I joined back in 2009. Wasn't even considering a Prius back then. Still young and reckless, all I wanted was a fast, great handling car with a stick shift! But Now.. after 8 years later with some wrinkles on ma pretty face and fewer hair , I've had 14' Prius Five in the family (lease) but is now happily replaced by Bolt EV. My daily is 16' Cmax Energi - quite like this car btw. and.. my fast, manual cars are still with me as well. Sadly, they just don't get driven as much...

I do not want to reveal the price as it will only cause a distraction to the issue I am having with the newly acquired 'Beater' Prius which I am 'loaning' to my really good friend to help him out with his situation. But if you are really curious and would like to know more and live in LA area, I am down for C&C! :)

EDIT: @TinyTim Just realized you are up in beautiful Seattle. Come down to beautiful So Cal for an amazing vacation and we can do C&C!!

If the car you bought sat around for a long period before you bought it, it can fail as you've described. Older weak batteries will self discharge. It only takes 1 cell out of the 168 cells to go bad.

Have you checked the service records of the car? Register your VIN at Toyota.com owners. See if the last service record is a failed battery diagnosis

Yes I have! Nothing on the hybrid battery diagnosis / failure. The car does look maintained quite well - in terms of services - 6 years and 177k miles, it better have!!- both at Toyota dealership and independent shop. Tried to get complete history at independent shop, but unfortunately, they aren't being too helpful.

I'd be curious to see if the battery even is the battery that came with the car. If you can open up the top cover, you can see the modules and serial numbers. That'll tell you the date of the modules. 2010 would be an L module (serial 4th letter), 2011 would be a M module. Those are the only 2 that should be in the car.

Even if they aren't original, the dealer would just play stupid

That is why I asked for pics from OP. Both the exterior of the car and beneath the seat of the battery. Lot's of knowledgeable people here who can help out the OP.

    Update
Well there isn't any.. so far so good. Praying to battery gods!

@bisco The seller agreed to split the cost of battery replacement if it indeed is the cause of it. Not the brand new, dealer battery... those cheap refurbished ones. o_O
