So, guess I spoke too soon. The "GET UPDATES" button is now active (it hadn't been previously), but it either kicks you back to the drop-down menus screen where you choose model/year or it takes you to an error page.

Go to the Toyota downloads link above and put in the info. It tells you what it's fixing before you download.

Maybe I'm missing it, but nothing there I can see in terms of details on changes. Just a red button that kicks you back to the main link above or to a status 500 error page. This is all you see after entering your car info:

Looks like there's an update for the 7" screen too? (Version 01018C).

Yeah, that's been there a while (and mentioned in other threads here). But until this morning, the 11.6" only had a "no updates available at this time" message.

Click the red button and the summary of changes is there. Try it on the 3rd one down.

That's the problem - something's broken and the red button just dumps you back on the vehicle selection page or redirects to an error page. But, thanks for the heads-up - I'll look for the details once Toyota fixes the link!

To see a good example, select a 2014 4Runner with NAV and click the red button and again the red get updates button. Near the bottom, you'll see a blue "read more" just below the "This update is designed to improve." That's what you're looking for.

    On this 2014 4Runner with NAV example it says . . .
Your Toyota Vehicle has an available multimedia software update (Version 0101D7 & 010157).

This update is designed to improve the performance of your multimedia system. Updates include the following:
    -Intermittent rebooting
    -Intermittent display freezing
    -“Low Fuel” pop-up message

The reference above to Version 0101D7 & 010157 is the version BEFORE this update that it applies to.

Yeah, it dumps me back out to the first page again. I think they're having problems (not uncommon for them), I can't even sign into the Toyota owners website either, it says service unavailable.

I reported it via email and they followed up with me by phone today, so they're aware of it. I am able to get into my Toyota Owners account, though.

Just to be clear for new readers, there's nothing on that site that you can't get by going to settings, general, software update on your vehicle. I do this at home by connecting my phone to WiFi, then BT to the vehicle and checking for updates.

This site will only have the audio version updates, and not the dealer only installable firmware updates.

Ah, OK, I was wondering if they were the same. Disappointing - I thought the web-based downloads were firmware updates. So then, how do you know when a firmware update is available? And, I assume the dealer installation isn't a warranty-covered (read: free) service?

Yeah, it's Audio software and apps, but not the firmware for the whole head unit. We learned this over the last 3 years on the 4Runner forums. People would have issues, go to the dealer and they'd flash a new firmware version. They'd come back and tell everyone. The dealer will do this for you if you ask and if you're still under warranty for free. No real way to know about the firmware updates. On the 4runner forums, we had a thread to track the current Entune version numbers for each head unit trim level. It's been different for each type of head unit.

Sheesh. They don't make it easy, do they?

    Thanks.

No, but part of it is better than it was. I recently noticed this January that the MicroSD map updates now also have the latest Entune audio version updates on it. It's just another means to get updates out there for those that don't connect to Entune with a smartphone.
