There was a software problem with certain Techstream versions around version 10 .x that had trouble accessing Prii. You'll probably be okay with that respect, but I read somewhere that one pin, at least, is not connected, so that re-programming modules is disabled.

You can also look in the link below the known bugs of the current version of techstream and a closed issues from before versions

About re-programming you mean the pin disabled on a mini-vci?, i think it will be more complicated, maybe both hardware and software issue.

Well, pin disabled is the same as not connected. As to why, I'm not sure. Probably they weren't able to clone that functionality inside, and to prevent any possible harm left it unconnected.

First thing Techstream does is check connectivity. If a pin is not connected, or disabled, it is shown in red.

That said, I ended up purchasing a Mongoose Pro, but am now thinking I should have just gotten a CarDaq M.

Hello guys, just to let you know that the cable has arrived (7 days from Honk Kong to Europe, I was quite shocked) and everything is working perfectly. I'm able to run the Techstream 10.0.018 on Windows 7 Professional 64bit and can connect to Prius III without any problem to all the ECUs and change the available settings (seatbelts, reverse beepers and so on). Very good value for 17.10$ :)

Why do you prefer the CarDaq M?

I have a variety of makes I would like to work on, and the Toyota specific Mongoose is not flexible for that. I must update my wish to CANtieCAR version 4 though.... (Much cheaper than either CarDaq).

Long story: Was the original clone/copy, and the subsequent knock offs cloned/copied the X-Horse but continued to supply their clones with original X-Horse driver. If you can make sense of that.

Short story: The driver supplied with knock off Mini VCI cables.
