Got the windows tinted today, 50% front sides and 20% rears. It's about as dark as you can go here without hassle. Coolprius_tint by CoolPrius posted Aug 4, 2017 at 2:47 PM
First time trying these beefy color matched door edge protectors. In the past I've used the 3M clear film. These go on using a rubber hammer so no worries about air bubbles or finger prints. Enjoy the weekend. Coolprius_dooredge by CoolPrius posted Aug 5, 2017 at 12:13 PM
One more modification for the day - Factory rear bumper protector installed. You simply line the letter "i" in prius with the hatch locking bracket and remove the tape underneath. The color might look chrome but it's really a gun metal in most situations. I wish it was a more rugged rubberized design. I might consider painting it with some of that truck bed liner later on. Installed the Sylvania LED bulbs in the drivers and passenger door. They are bulb size 168. Nothing wrong with the yellow but the bright white gives it a premium look IMO. Only took like 5 minutes to pry off the cover and replace the lights. Tip I saw online - use tape to remove the factory bulb. That way you don't get your "greasy" hands on them. Will probably do the footwell lights next. Coolprius LED by CoolPrius posted Aug 8, 2017 at 7:05 PM
Husky liners installed. Have weather-tech in the gen 3 and don't like them as the drivers side mat doesn't cover the entire dead pedal where the husky may does. Also the husky mat has gripping nubs on the back side that the weather tech mats didn't have so they don't slide around.
An idea for those of you wanting to add some color to the interior in an inexpensive manner. Use an adhesive fabric or your choice of vinyl film and cover the door handle covers. They are super easy to pop off. This was just an example using some supplies I had on hand. I'll probably go with carbon fiber film as a permanent installation. Just got my Prius back from the detailer yesterday. PPF on front bumper + hood + front fender + side mirror and door cup. They also did the tinting for my prius, front 70% and rear 50% (which is as dark as I can go in Ontario, Canada).
I swapped out the footwell lights using the higher end Toyota/Lexus equivalent LED bulb. The drivers side has two screws and a clip holding the under panel on. Once removed just just pry out the light and install replacement. The passenger side has no screws, only 3 clips. Part number is in the image. You will be treated with a nice white light and the factory dimmer function still works. Coolprius_led by CoolPrius posted Aug 27, 2017 at 9:52 PM
Nice wheels on that Pearl Prius, Ea8631! My wife's 2017 Prius 2 is hitting 25,000 miles so I got out my can of Lucas Oil parts cleaner (for throttle bodies) removed the input hose to the TB and used a rag with the cleaner and cleaned the outside. Then, I gently pushed in the butterfly flap and clean inside of it, top and bottom as well as the edges of the flap, top and bottom. The outside was almost completely clean and there was only a light coating of black varnish on the inside. Easiest job ever. (Remove top of air filter housing, loosen and remove the two hoses with 10mm hose clamps, and disconnect one hose from the top.)
