So I posted on here before about getting the new Prime or getting a Certified Pre-Owned PiP...Well after much deliberation, last week, I decided to go with the prime since it'll only be around a 3-4k difference, going with the Premium instead of Advanced. Then the mission really got difficult...finding a Blizzard Pearl with Black interior...finding the Blizzard pear alone was hard, finding one with black interior seemed almost impossible. Every dealer I spoke with said they don't have it and can possibly get one but with a moonstone interior...one dealer even went as far as saying Toyota doesn't make it with a black interior. I did plenty of research and daily inventory checks and I finally found a dealer that has it in stock, so i called my local dealer and asked if they could transfer it and sure enough they will have the vehicle delivered tomorrow morning! So all i have to do is wait till Saturday to complete the process! Only downside, with the car being so damn rare I was only able to get them to knock off $500 off of MSRP. I've already asked for tint quotes to all the shops in my area and will most likely get it done on Sat or Sun, what else should i do to the car as soon as i get it?
Yup..told the sales manager that I'm working with today to make sure the car is plugged in on Friday so I can have a charged car on Saturday... Additional question...(sorry, I haven't bought a car through a dealer in almost 8 years) I know the finance manager will push the extended warranty on me, if he lowers the price of the car for me to get the warranty can I call Toyota within a few days and get the warranty cancelled/refunded?
First of all, congrats! You will love your new car. I also researched the warranty (or service contract) and with the help of an actuarial table estimated that the actual worth of the contract is about $800. The dealer I worked with wanted to charge 2k+. I like the negotiation tactic, but I do not know if you can return it after you purchase it though.
Thank you! If you're interested in getting the warranty check out the link below from another forum. If I decide to actually get a warranty I'm going to go through the source in that link instead of from my dealer as they will most likely ask for 2k+ and my first born... http://www.rav4world.com/forums/96-4-3-general/88718-buying-extended-warranty-read-first.html
Yes. I have canceled and got refunded on certain extended warranties on my Prime. I also kept some still. After a period of time, it becomes prorated. On the first post you made, you may want to consider removing the hubcaps off and put center caps on. It changes the appearance quite a bit. For the better in my opinion. That is what I did. #1 in Easley,SC
Congrats...you are going to love the car. I got mine tinted and it makes a huge difference. I also got it undercoated at the same time. We have a lot of snow, salt, grim here in the winter. You may not have issues like that in LA.
Thanks...I'm still on the fence about the wheel...I ultimately want to swap them with the FRS/BRZ wheels but we'll see. Yeah, don't have any issues with snow in LA...but due to the heat I definitely will be getting the car tinted.
I am a cheap b*st**d just like you. I didn’t get any extra protections or warranties as they aren’t worth it. I only really plan to keep the car for 4 years and hope to be in a Tesla by then. I was able to get $600 my blizzard pearl and they included door edge guards which they didn’t charge me for. But do not get anything extra. This is an expensive toy and not an investment. Just take good care of it and wax it monthly.
yup..I dont feel any extras are really necessary, however I do plan on driving this car till it craps out on me. The wife has a civic which lease is up in March and according to the tesla site my model 3 should be available around April....just gotta figure out, for the wife, how to manage without a car for a month.
Well then the extended warranty usually won't do much. The hybrid battery and inverter are warranted for 8 years/100,000 miles. In CA, the battery is warranted for 10 years/150,000 miles. The extended warranty covers the non-hybrid stuff that is out of warranty after the basic 3 years/60,000 right? All 3 of our Prii (2005, 2010 and 2016) never had extended warranties on them. Statistically, they're reliable vehicles.
Yeah...the only thing I was considering getting the warranty for was for the in car electronics but...im most likely going to wait it out and see if anything happens within the first two years that is already included.
Ahh I see, you mean the screen or the TSS-P stuff? ok. The Gen 2 Prius' 7" LCD were $4,000 new and $2,000 refurbished BUT they were unique to the Prius (and that was 5-10 years ago). The 6.1 and 7" LCDs used in the Gen 4 Prius are used across several models (Corolla, RAV4, Avalon, Tacoma) so the cost should be lower if it breaks.
