EPA says 25 miles a charge, but we know better.
    Sometimes, a whole lot better
And sometimes, the stars align, Zeus lends a hand ... and the car travels over 40 miles on a charge

If you reach this pinnnacle, please try to take a photo of the display and add in useful information e.g car speed, any tricks used, route and weather.

    Cheers!

Car speed not over 19 MPH 85 degrees F . Traveled up and down a 25 MPH street that was 6/10's of a mile long with no stop signs. after awhile got some strange stares and flagged down by a lady who wanted to know why, so I told her it's an electric car and wanted to see how far I could go.:D

This is my one and only 40+. Done as an experiment. 25-31 mph and lots of rolling stops at stop signs. Very flat and no wind and no A/C. Used a bunch of different roads so I wouldn't get flagged down by any curious ladies;) @priuscatprimeguy . There are many senior developments around mine so it was easy to vary roads.

I can lay claim to a bit more than that.
This is a photo I also placed in the old thread last week. The range was 44.2 miles, but 8% remained in the battery. If my consumption rate remained the same the charge would have been good for 44.2/0.92 = 48 miles when battery was empty. And actually, my work commute ends at the top of hill so I could have gamed the trip for a pretty good final result on the display.

3rd trip in a row I have driven the 44.2 mile drive to work in EV !
Once again I ended up with 4% remaining battery.

I didn't expect July to be a favorable season but the late afternoons have turned cloudy and windy, giving me a little push and allowing me to drive without A/C. Today wind was 15 mph blowing in from the ENE, while my overall drive is SSW. If my HS Geometry serves, then the wind was behind me at 45 degrees overall, giving me a direct tailwind equal to about 10 mph. Unfortunately though, most of my westward driving was at 25 mph and the southward driving was 55 -63 mph so although it certainly helped, I'm going to email Zeus tonight and see if he can be a little more accommodating. From the NNE would be great !

Addendum: Google maps helped me to fine tune my wind help. Most of my drive is southward when I drive higher speeds so I recalculated. 22.5 degrees of the wind vector at my back, so 6-7 mph wind help when it mattered.

    Trip details

    Cougars looking for a Tom?

What's your elevation change going to work? Tail winds are your friend(except when landing) head winds just the opposite.

Just for fun, take a look at the details on this page. They have MPG impact to crosswinds in all directions. It's surprising.

This is some of Wayne Brown's work. He is one of the original and most productive Prius hackers. He published a Mac OSX program a couple of years ago that included this wind work as well as just about any other effect on vehicle efficiency one might consider (and then some!) in a very elegant UI. Highly recommended for interested hobbyist on up.

His somewhat understated point here by the way is that side winds cost fuel since we have to turn the wheel to oppose the force in order to drive straight.

Yeah, we were reading his genius constantly when I was hypermiling my tail off back in 2010-2011.

F4435154-45E2-4114-9907-DB5580DFE8AB.jpeg My first 40 on July 19, 2018. I’ve had the car since Dec. 2017. Also, 4500 miles later, I have only used a 1/4 tank of the original gas. Got to love these Primes.

I recently got 69.7kms with my 2017 Prius Prime. I checked with a Wattmeter during a month, battery provides 10km/KWh roughly 100W/km.
I live in France, cost is 1.2 cts euro per kilometer, it is about 10 times cheaper than a car running on gas.

  20. Here it is on the HUD of my Advanced:

    Fourty40HUD.jpg

Then I tried to capture it on the Dashboard, but it went through its Intro sequence, then a "Charge Complete" message, then get it into D, and by the time I went for a picture it said 39.9 miles
    *shakes fist amusingly*
    This is not over!
