That's a great idea. I parked on my driveway and used one of the post as my guide.

Aren't there also sensor systems to help with backing into a garage available?

Both Primes are charging up in the garage now on 240-volt connections at a sustained rate of 3.59 kW.

Photos of the final setup on the way...

The brackets worked out great for mounting both the charger and the NEMA 14-50 outlets.

At some point, I'll be adding real-world data about charging (speed, duration, quantity, etc) & billing (various costs).

So, if you have something else you'd like to have documented or want more detail about, just holler.

I'd love to have some of the screens explained in detail. For instance, the last one you have posted above. I have the 'miles' version set in my car. I assume the light blue bars that either go down into the bottom section or up into the middle section of the curve reflect charging vs using. But how about the darker blue section in the middle section of the curve? Why is the middle section divided into 2 when not in EV mode? The 3 driving scores are calculated over what period?

Maybe I'm the only one here who needs some of the details filled in. If so, i can buy you a beer while I get my personal tutoring session!

That's coming in the regular User-Guide, which this charging document is just one section of.

And you're far from alone. There are many who would like the detail too. I've been noting the questions people have been asking, just like in the past when the other Prius were new.

    Very cool John!
    A couple of questions...
You mentioned putting a meter on each and running a new "service line" to each.
Are these sub meters? Or are you running a new service line as the utility defines it, which is basically a new service fro the utility?
If the latter, how much is the monthly service charge?

They are sub-meters without a monthly service-charge. It's their effort to offer a lower cost option. We are their cost customer to request 2, so it took a little to figure out exactly how the devices would be configured.

    More to come...

    Excellent!
I forget, are you with Xcel?
I have heard they are/will be running a pilot program for a TOU EV rate that uses submeters. If you are allowed to say, are you a part of that?

Nope, Dakota Electric. They've been great to work with too.

Ah, that makes more sense. I think Dakota and Connexus have both been leaders in this area.

I'm with Xcel and spoke with them recently about their upcoming pilot program. Their take home message was "don't hold your breath".

    John1701a,
Explain the white slotted mounting plastic things. In 2012 I bought a 240v 16amp Leviton EVSE for our PIP, which was easy and just came with a template and bracket for installation. I installed 30amp breaker and 10 gauge wiring. Prime is on other side of garage with std 120v cable and set to 8amp for overnight charging.

Those are metal bases that allow you to connect a wide variety of brackets.

I used them to accommodate screws whenever needed, since studs were not in the desired location.
