No interest in autonomous cars now. When I think of the number of situations I encounter in a trip, I'll let the third generation version be my first.

Well I did replace a perfectly fine 2010 Prius with a 2017 Prius Prime to get TSS-P and high MPG. We have two cars that both have dynamic cruise control and collision avoidance. Since I retired last month, I'm not in the market.

I'll think about autonomous when the time comes, but I wont be the first to get it. (I live in a tech free state, south carolina) I don't really see how it's going to work without more infrastructure changes, but the day I can hang up my steering wheel is the day that I'll be truly happy. :)

My 75 mile commute kind of wears on a guy after 22 years...

Congrats on your retirement. How many gallons will you save a year? I assume you use the i3 for the short trips.

    • How many gallons will you save a year? - When working, typically 18-20k miles per year running about 52 MPG, 345-385 gallons/year. After getting the BMW i3-REx, it dropped to just cross country trips like 1,400 miles, 35 gallons. The rest was electricity.
    • I assume you use the i3 for the short trips. - Around town, the +70 miles EV pretty much covered everything especially because I started shopping where there were free L2 chargers, 20% SOC/hr.
Otherwise, I head out and grab the car with the J1772 plugged in. I actually like them both although the Prius Prime is 52% to 48% for the BMW i3-REx.
