    Hi everyone,

I had a question about installing a rear sway bar. I know everyone goes for the Progress 62.2150 for the rear sway bar and then the junk yard for the front sway bar.

However, is it okay/fruitful to get a Rear Sway Bar from something like a 2003-2006 Toyota Corolla off ebay? Is their stock bar thicker/more beneficial/worth it over the stock Prius rear sway bar?

Cheapest I've found the Progress Bar for is around $140, but I've seen some junk yard rear bars available for around $30-$40.

    Thoughts?

The rear bar on the Corollas from posts on other threads are only 20mm, which is the same size as a Prius Touring rear bar, and only 1mm over a base rear bar. You'd be better off waiting for a deal to show up in the classified for a TRD or Progress one. From what I've also read, is the front sway replacement is the biggest bang for your buck, and the stock Corolla one would be what you want.

Awesome. Thanks for the insightful post. I'm going to wait for a sale on craiglist for about a month. If nothing comes up I'll go ahead with the direct purchase. Appreciate the help buddy

There's also the 26mm Megan sway bar on Ebay: MEGAN corolla rear swaybar | eBay

I believe it's hollow, so it should behave similar to a 24mm solid bar like the Progress/TRD.

the corolla bar appears to be a forging, but the prius bar looks to be not much better than conduit. so if your not looking for maximum performance and don't want to spend a lot, the corolla bar should make a noticeable difference. might be able to find one really cheap at the local junkyard.

you will love the improvement, but, don't skimp on tires. and I have to say ecopias suck for handling. definitely getting michelin or conti when these wear out.

So is the megan 26mm hollow the same as the progress 24mm solid bar performance wise?

So I did some research and they are saying it's a solid 26mm bar.. so that might mean it'll make it too stiff.

I just replaced my stock bars front and rear, used a 07 Corolla front bar and a 08 matrix rear bar. Very satisfied handles much better in curves even loaded. Cost me 65 bucks.

can't beat that with a stick. I guess Toyota figured we were all dweebs that would be driving extra slow to maximize MPG...

I am new to Prius Chat but am about to do the sway bar swap by Aztech Master above on my 07 Prius:
"07 Corolla front bar and a 08 matrix rear bar"
When I called the junkyard they said for the 07 Corolla there was an option between Japanese or US made?
Does that make a difference for the front sway bar, bracket, or bushings?
Aztechmaster which one did you use?

I don't think it matters, but if you have a choice go with japan because prius is made in japan.
