Lets pretend that the Engineering Department at Toyota reads Prius Chat (they don't) and that they get to build whatever they want. (they don't) It is just barely possible, they could add a feature to the 2020 Prius at this point. (they won't)
Give us the Trunk space back! I'd kill for a Spare tire, but know that's not going to happen. My Dog(Boxer) does NOT like the split in the rear seat. He can't stretch out?? Put cameras in the large blind spots and display them in the corners of that huge screen. or better yet replace the mirrors with the camera views inside the car pillers.
Maybe, but sideview mirrors have a huge problem with blind spots. Blind spot detection ought to be standard equipment. Maybe cameras can solve this too.
Honda already uses a camera for the passenger side blind spot on the Civic. It is activated by the turn signal.
But with Honda LaneWatch, it only has a camera on the right side, not the left. IMHO, a light that flashes on the mirror where I look before changing lanes is much more helpful than a camera where I have to look at the screen. The blind-spot light on the mirror tells you if a car is in your blind-spot or not quickly and to-the-point. I guess the reason the light is better is that it tells you the answer of YES or NO. I like the concept of LaneWatch, but it fails in comparison to blind-spot monitoring.
Prius Prime owner in waiting (amazing how scarce these are outside the Pacific coastline). But I did want to speak up about 2018 wish list, because I fell different from many of you: Do not add third seat in back. Having owned a 2009 and 2011 Prius, and 2013 Prius v, the third seat is a waste, even in the wider Prius v - for a child to be small enough to fit in that third seat, they need a child safety seat which cuts it to two anyway. Rearrange that battery pack so you have a standard Prius load deck - my 2011 Prius still shocks folks with how much 'stuff' it can haul with the rear seats down. Carplay and Android Auto - enough with this Entune crap - we have Carplay on my wife's 2018 Odyssey and it is great. Same safety features on Premium and Advanced trims - no excuse for blind spot monitors on top of line only Get rid of the white accents in the black interior models AGREE STRONGLY with sentiment that they need to cut the coffee intake of the design engineers - "Prime" was supposed to designate "best" not "I'm a Transformer."
Carplay and Android Auto are not likely to happen. Toyota is introducing Entune 3.0 on the 2018 Camry and both those services are missing. The lower trim Prius has a matte black console which is a good start at reducing the white accents. The 2017.5 Prius has BSM across the trims so it may make it to 2018 Prime/
We have a 2015 Civic that has the side view camera, it honestly makes driving so much easier and displays so much more than looking in the mirror or turning your head.
An audio mute button that lowers the volume to a settable level. Make charge now programmable in the charge schedule because I keep forgetting to hit the charge now button when I get to work. (Maybe it already is didn't really check?)
Bigger battery with more range. I want lesser trim with less of bells and whistle equivalent to Prius Two for lower price point.
Love all those wishes for the 2018 model but isn't it almost certain that it will be pretty much identical to the 2017 model? It is in 2019 we may see significant changes...
1) If it needs a tablet size screen, I should be able to do tablet like things with that screen. Say, watch a movie. Or chose what map app I want to use. and maybe angle it slightly to the driver, rather than flat for added glare purposes 2) Voice controls that are not absolutely useless. 3) Fix the wireless charger. Put it at an angle so I can see my screen while it charges. And for the love of electricity, make it a fast charger, rather than a useless charger that will barely keep a phone at the charge you started with if anything is running on it 4) Fix the whole drop from the cargo deck to the back of the seat thing. Flat surface. Its not that hard 5) This car is freaking low. They could at least do something so the front of the nose isnt so low it hits even small parking bumpers and scrapes coming out of modestly raised parkinglots 6) minor complaint, but the glasses compartment is poorly designed for glasses. They flop out when opened, try to get jammed when closing. Fix that 7) I'd like more access to the electricity stored within my car. My old Vibe had an honest to goodness electrical outlet on the dash. Surely my prime, with far more electrons to play with, could offer something like that. 8) Do NOT add a 5th seat. I greatly appreciate that I only have 4. Ignore all these other folks on that one. 9) ability to use rear camera at will, as well as while backing up 10) lane keep assist improvements. What the prime has now is a bad joke. 11) the solar roof. Should be an obvious one, since they already offer it other places.
