Hello! I am just seeing if anyone in the Seattle area owns reconditioning products or their hybrid battery? I saw some other owners in this forum offering their charger and discharger for their area. I was hoping to find someone in my area. Thank you!
Hello did you have any luck in Seattle? I am about to pull the trigger on one of the prolong systems and would love to split it.
Yes, they require a mounted harness that is about $80, but then you can simply share the main charger when you need to recondition batteries or balance out the system. You can find out some more info at hybridautomotive
Depending on the Autoshop it is possible that they would install them. It looks like there is a certified one south in Kent. I am going to install mine myself so we could learn together. The instructions are here if you would like to look over. Got the the Hybrid Automotive page and then click product guides. Sorry about not including links, I just joined the forum after a long time lurking.
You can check hybridautomotive for an authorized dealer/shop. I had mine installed locally for $100 yesterday (I already had the cable); most people are reporting the shops want $250 for installation. I'm not sure if the $250 includes the price of the cable or not. If you ask nicely you might find a member here who will do it for you for a very reasonable price.
When I had @jeff652 install the harness he charged a flat rate and it was much less than $250. I bought the Discharge ready Charger pack (which included the discharge harness), intelligent Discharger and the install flat fee. Got to spend about 2 hours with Jeff as part of the install (he had the install done in about an hour) at his shop. Knowledgeable and a great Hybrid resource . I just completed a 2 cycle Discharge on our 2010 Prius II with 155 k miles. I recorded some details here: 2010 Prius II HV Battery Reconditioning Jeff made the install look easy, but I know if I were to do it, I would have watched any videos or read up prior to the undertaking . Good luck .
Some help would be most appreciated. Anyone in the Chicagoland/Wisconsin/Indiana area done this? Wanna give me a hand? I'll buy beer and a VERY nice meal.
Looking to do the harness install yourself, or looking to find an installer for a quote? If you go to Hybrid Automotive's website, they gave an installer map. There is a shop in Wilmington or @ericbecky in Madison. I know Eric is always willing to chat on the phone, if interested. The install instructions aren't bad if tackling yourself and Jeff is a good source of info if you have questions . Good luck .
Another Seattle member here & could be interested in sharing the cost of this system (especially if it looks like there are 3 of us!). I do need to get my battery tested first to confirm it's declining, but indications are that's probably the case. Even if you guys have gone ahead with purchase, I could "join up" and reimburse some of your cost BTW I've also located a shop with hybrid certified mechanics on Lake City Way (Northwest Automotive), I'm probably going to be paying them a visit very shortly to test battery & also trying to diagnose a strange noise my shop can't figure out. I've only had the car 2 years, I was really hoping to get more time out of it before the major expenses started to kick in (yes I was aware the batteries can start to go at 100K/10 yrs but have also seen that many last longer & I was hopeful) @dr3wst3r @Ajourney101 @biglew8
