Screen glare quick fix idea for 7" Screen (not sure about 11.6)

Screen glare (from the sun) can be a problem, so I just made a quick $5 fix today, but I have the 7" screen, not sure how well this will work on the 11.6, because I don't know if there's an area above the screen to attach the velcro to. Still, thought I'd post this for anyone interested.

Went to a fabric store, bought a small amount of black fabric that was somewhat (but not too much) transparent (enough to cut the glare, but still will allow you to kind of see through a bit to the screen), and some self-adhesive velcro pads. Stuck the "sticky" side of the velcro pad on the top of the dash above the screen, stuck the "smooth" side of the velcro pad onto the little piece of fabric, then when I need it, I just take it out of the glove box, stick it onto the velcro and let it drape down over the screen. When I don't need it I can just shove it up, or simply take it off and put it back in the glove box. Only "minus" is that it winds up blocking the air vents on the 7" version, though I generally only use the air when stopped at a light or something, in really hot weather.

I don't want to tint windows or do anything drastic like that (I like clear windows). Not perfect, but only cost about $5, and easy to take-on, take-off. Even a $1 black-fabric "laundry bag" from Dollar Tree could've worked as the fabric (cut it to the right size to drape over), though I wound up using the piece from the fabric store.

For me, it's going home on the 405 in the afternoon where I was getting bad screen glare that there was no way of avoiding while driving unless I did something... so this was my cheap, quick easy fix :)

Your creative solution reminds me of an old fabric computer screen cover I used to see at work. Alternatively, I block the side window with a common removable sun shade made of black fabric mesh, which may lessen the glare under certain conditions.

this is my first post but I thought I'd quickly reply.

I wonder if a matte screen protector is available that would fit correctly. The only "challenge" is putting a screen protector on something so big will probably lead to a few bubbles and pieces of dust under it.

I'm picking up a white prime premium today and I'm excited to be driving a car with so many cool tech features!

Yeah, it was a quick and cheap fix, but good enough for me. I was surprised that I can still pretty much see through to the screen, yet the glare is gone. I don't need it most of the time (in which case I can flip it up, or just put it in the drivers seat accessory pocket by the cupholders) and with the 7" Plus trim you don't even see the velcro tape unless you look in through the front windshield -- and even then it's hard to see because I got black velcro. I'm sure one can be rigged up for the 11.6, I just don't know if there's an area above/behind the 11.6 screen to put the velcro like there is on the 7" version.

Thanks for the welcome and I love the car! The only thing I was disappointed in is that I got a full tank of gas but no one charged the battery so I couldn't use EV.

Sorry I don't have more to add to the glare problem...
