Last week I had posted a message regarding a dead battery. Well the used car dealer replaced the battery and that was great. I wondered if it was the battery or something draining it ? So, I usually just leave my headlights on all the time and when the car is turned off the lights turn off. Been doing this for a year. Today at work a fellow worker let me know my lights were on... hmmmm. So that must have been the problem and then the question is why would they have remained on ? I do not touch the headlight switch.

A couple of thoughts: not shutting the door completely or door switch isn't working correctly.

The door always gets locked... so I don't think it would lock if a door was not shut.

    Ahh, OK.

You need to turn them on only when the car is on and in ready mode. If the car is in accessory mode or off when you turn on the headlights, then they will stay on. Hope that makes sense.

(I do not use a Gen 3, so it may be different)
They shut off after you turn off the car and then open the driver's door. (there may be a timed delay)

If you open the drivers door before you turn off the car, it is not automatic off.
