I would if I saw one. Waved to a Gen 4 once but I don't think they saw me.

It's lonely here.:( Been on the road almost 5 months,5000 miles and have not seen another one yet. If I see one I will try to get their attention somehow (would have to roll down the window to wave..my window tint is dark) as an acknowledgement of the trouble they would have gone through to get one in Arizona. I figure there may be at most maybe 10 in the state unless they went elsewhere to purchase like me.

Not bashing the Prime. But the Prime doesn't impress me. Great looking design, but it only goes about 30 miles on a charge? Big deal. Not worth the hassle of having to plug it in everyday, paying a higher electric bill, and looking at a cost of $33K+? I'd rather just zip into a gas station, toss 5 bucks in the tank of my old fashioned gas-guzzling regular Prius, and be on my way for another 200 miles. :)

Should I spend 33K on a plug-in car that will take me and the little woman to Walmart once a week? Or to the local diner for the meat-loaf special? And heck, I don't mind buying gas. Support the American economy, and support the hard working American oil rig workers, of which I am one. I think that Prime guy who gave me the "bird" was probably just pissed off at the world, realizing his "Prime" isn't impressing any of his neighbors, and he probably just saw his first electric bill! LOL.

All of us should have bought a cheap Corolla.

How else should that be taken?

Quoting the highest MSRP is clearly not constructive. Dismissing the EV without any data whatsoever, a complete absence of detail, shows no effort was made.

Ok, so what did you pay? And I got the mileage info from the thread, "How far does your Prime go in EV mode?"
I would gladly consider owning one, if it got 200 to 300 miles on an electric charge. Until then, in my humble opinion it is just not worth the extra expenses. Some people are paying expensive electricians to install special plugs in their home. Also, I like buying gas for obvious reasons related to my employment. :)

Truthfully, paying $25,000 for my 2016 Three model was even too high. Fantastic gas mileage but, that car just seems to attract all kinds of weirdos, tailgaters, people would like to cut me off, give me the bird, etc. And I'm driving OVER the speed limit. I am not a slow wussy Prius driver. But for some reason, that little car just attracts all the idiot drivers. Maybe it's because I travel through a lot of rural "pick-up country." (I also own a truck).

Not a very good requirements analysis. Near as I can tell:
    • Must impress your neighbors.
    • Must burn more gas than your Prius.
    • Must not use home electricity, gasoline is preferred.
    • Must have 200-300 mile EV range.
If this matches your requirements, then of course you should not consider the Prime. Of course the last two requirements are in conflict unless you have a 50kW gasoline generator for the 200-300 mile range.

I'm a dirty oil rig worker. I don't have any desire to impress people. I'm happy and pumping God's "black gold." :) And mostly drive a beat-up 1998 Chevy pickup. Best damn truck ever. I was driving through Houston, and here comes a guy in a new $100,000 Tesla! Man, that's a sleek looking ride. I admit, that's Impressive! Totally silent when he accelerated away from the light, and fast! But I'll stick with my humble little cheap ($23k) Prius and 65mpg. Good enough.

And you guys have fun with your Primes. Variety is the spice of life!

First off, oil patch work is familiar to me:
    • Uncle Richmond was a petroleum engineer (and wild catter missing one finger digit)
    • Brothers Dave and Will both worked the oil patch (and still have all fingers)
    • Until about 3-4 years ago, I was getting oil royalties
Don't try to pull any blue color BS here as we have more than a few who have worked everything from soup to nuts. The only dirty thing about you is that 'wounded pride chip' on your shoulder as you seem to think folks here don't know where gas comes from. If you want condemnation, Ok, "you're a whiny prissy little bitch!" Feel better?

So stop trying to impress anyone here. You want to talk cars, fine, talk cars. You like your pickup, works for me. The ones I hate are the $50k, 'urban cowboy' pickups without a single scratch or dot of mud on them.

My family are farm people and they work their pickups and trucks long and hard. It isn't a badge one way or the other but what they do for a living. As for their guns, mostly they use the 22 to put down a beef or hog they are butchering and a well worn shotgun used for quail, squirrel, and suicidal deer. Get over yourself; have a beer, and; grow a pair.

    ps. Moderators, I was provoked!

I got a top-of-the-line Prime Advanced for less than a bottom of the line hybrid Prius. This is because of the tax credits.

I just filled my tank for the first time, after over 1,600 miles and over 189mpg. I got probably a third of my electricity at work, and the cost at home is equivalent to 1.8 cents per mile. If you assume 65mpg on gas, that's like paying $1.17 a gallon. And the whole time I get a far smoother, quieter (even in hybrid mode) and more responsive ride than you get from a G4 Prius which itself is far better than a G3 Prius.

I owned a 2004, test drove a 2012, 2015 and 2016 Prius, and kept my 2004. I test drove a Prime and ordered one that very day. Now that I've had it a while I see that was a good choice. Love the car.
