[California] New Additional "Clean Fuel Rebate" for Prime (SCE & PG&E)

First of all, it was KyLien who first posted about this rebate being available here:

But I'm making another thread with a different title because the rebate isn't just for SCE's Southern California customers, but it looks like it's pretty much statewide -- for it also includes PG&E Customers as well. Want to make sure PG&E customers get the information too

SCE's rebate is $450
Clean Fuel Rewards Program | SCE Clean Fuel Rewards Program

PG&E's rebate is $500
Clean Fuel Rebate for electric vehicles

Note that the money is NOT technically coming from the power utilities, but rather from the California Clean Fuel Rebate Program -- but the utilities adminster it. SCE's page makes you think it's SCE paying for it (false). PG&E's page does a better job at explaining where the funds are coming from:

"The Clean Fuel Rebate comes from a State of California program called the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). The Low Carbon Fuel Standard is fighting climate change by encouraging the adoption of clean vehicle fuels such as electricity. PG&E earns credits in the program when customers use electricity at home to charge their electric vehicles. PG&E returns the value of these credits to its electric vehicle customers through the Clean Fuel Rebate."

So the utility companies are basically passing on the credits ($$) they get from the state, to us. That might explain why PG&E's and SCE's rebates are different amounts.

At any rate, the funds are limited, and (like the State of Calif $1,500 discount), when the funds are gone, they're gone. So sign up today! It's pretty easy -- you just fill out the form, then submit a scanned copy of your vehicle registration and email it to them. Both SCE's and PG&E's application page looks almost identical -- not surprising...

 

That's true, there are some municipal utilities like DWP and such. Check with them to see if they're offering a rebate. But currently, the big two power utils in Calif (SCE and PG&E) are offering the rebate.

(If your local municipal utility isn't offering it, at least take comfort in the fact that your electricity prices are probably lower than what SCE or PG&E are charging..)

 

Just got an email this morning from SCE saying they approved my rebate -- and that they usually send out the rebate checks within 90 days (Sound familiar? Just like the State of Calif's $1,500 rebate). So it only took them about 2 weeks from when I filled out the online application, to approve it! Now, it's just that 90 day wait...

As a PS: in looking at Toyota's own website last night, I noticed they have a list of rebates and offers for each state. And for California, they list PG&E's $500 rebate, but NOT SCE's $450 rebate (maybe it's too new, and someone needs to tell them to include it...)

 

I'm assuming the full 90 days after the "approved" email?
When someone actually gets the check in their mailbox, please post so we can get an idea of how long it's actually taking after the "you're approved" email...
