Ah, may not have tried hitting the Power button with my foot on the brake. I'll check... OK, I take that back. I must either be remembering wrong or perhaps something else was going on when I noticed that earlier. iPhone ? Pro
I was not expecting 'touch' to unlock multiple doors. For that, I use the fob which handles it very nicely. Bob Wilson
Oh, haha -- actually it was exactly the opposite: I just checked again. It appears that *the problem* was that I was trying to power it down by hitting the Power button *with my foot on the brake*. With a foot on the brake, the car, not surprisingly, interprets that to mean that I'm trying to power it up to drive. That's not going to happen with the charger cable plugged in! If I just hit the Power button without putting my foot on the brake, that powers it down fine, as we'd pretty much expect. What probably happened is that I got in, put my foot on the brake, and largely forgot that my foot was on the brake all that time. iPad ? Pro
We have waterfalls here in So. Calif. too... but they always have bright blue water, and are surrounded by windmills and brightly colored golf balls..
In the "Did you know?" category, it appears that when you're ready to stop, park your car and turn off your engine, you don't have to even press the "P" -- just hitting the POWER button automatically puts your car in P (maybe this is the way with all Priuses, but this is my first one, just found that out tonight)...
The higher viewing angle and artificial lighting makes it look a lot more urban. Nevertheless, lovely either way. iPhone ? Pro
Of course it will shut down with your foot on the brake. If you're not going to press P (and I never have) you need to keep your foot on the brake so the car will not move. It could be that you were still rolling a little and not at a complete stop when pressing the power button. It would not shut down while rolling due to the slam on the transmission when it applies the parking pawl. That's what holds the car in place with the power off.
Yup, my PiP and all 3 Gen 2's I have or had put themselves in park when you power down. I'll often use park if I'm not powering down immediately, but normally, I just stop, keep foot on brake, reset trip B if it's the end of the day, and hit the power button. It really doesn't matter if you put it in park or the computer does.
I'm sure it really doesn't matter, but since I drive another two vehicles during the week, It's easier to remember (as I'm getting older) to always use "park". You don't know how often I forget in my GF's car to put it park! She just gives me a look! LOL (getting old sucks). I also give her a hard time about a key? Like what the hell is this for?
Hey Dude, it's time for your GF to go Prime ! . Nothin' better than a Prime GF!! Yeah Bisco, I'm expecting you to say, 2 Prime GFs!! Har, har .
