California License Plates + HOV Sticker

I asked about getting the stickers at purchase and what the dealer said was that the DMV stopped issuing them to dealerships because of the volume of dealer applications.

 

That doesn't make sense. Decal is issued to each EV or Plug-in Hybird. Whether issues to dealer or driver is the same amount of eligible car. Hmm?

 

There are more vehicles applying lincense plate then HOV decal. DMV doesn't stop that. Either dealer is blowing smoke or DMV is stupider than I thought.

 

You think that's bad, it appears that there are individuals at DMV who review the mailed apps, who apparently (because they are vindictive, or simply incompetent), deny properly submitted apps. Who'd a thunk it !!?? . My properly submitted app was returned to me with a BS excuse; when I finally was able to get through to DMV, the lady said, "just send it back, you did everything correctly. You'll probably get someone else to review it, and it should go through" Wow! Got out another stamp, mailed it back, unchanged and about 3 weeks later, got my stickers. The indicator here, is that my check finally got cashed; otherwise, I had no way to verify the status of my app. This contrasts sharply with the kind and professional folks who handled my California rebate: lots of notifications and everything pretty much occurred as they said.

Well one of my coworker told me a funny and stupid DMV story. When she moved from Michigan to CA a few years ago. She took her Civic Hybrid to a local DMV to register. Some smart DMV lady asked her to show and proof to her it's a Hybrid.

 

Wow, what crazy DMV stories.

If someone could get that same DMV agent again, they could print up a homemade 'Hybrid' sticker from their computer, slap it on their Hummer, and request a green decal from her..

 

I mailed my application ~ May 1 and check cleared on May 17 ... still waiting for the stickers to arrive in the mail, maybe still today and hopefully no later than Monday ... can't wait

 

Just a note: The rebates are not handled by the DMV (or any other state agency, for that matter). The state contracted it out to the non-profit Center for Sustainable Energy.

 

The Center for Sustainable Energy definitely does a better job sending you money than the State does sending you stickers for which you have to pay.

So lucky!!! I'm still waiting for my check to clear from April 25th

 

DMV should subcontract HOV decal application out too.

 

Nit: the state rebate is under the state Air Resource Board, not the DMV.

 

Finally got my license plate number today so will be sending in the form tonight.
Now a few more weeks of waiting....

 

Yay for you! I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive! hopefully this week. Gotta do the same thing.

 

I called my dealer and asked them why after 3 weeks I didn't get my plates.
Was told it could take up to 90 days. Then a manager that I had talked to before I bought the car called me and said she would try to have their DMV dept expedite, then a couple days later I got it. So it may help to try that.

 

Just by coincidence I got an email from my dealer a few minutes ago. They were shipping my plates to me! I called them up and they gave me my license plate number and I just dropped off the app at the post office. Now to keep checking to see when they cash my check.

 

I got an email from my dealer to tell me that my plate got shipped etc. Two days after I revived my plate in my mail box.

 

I might be as well watching my grass grow while waiting for my HOV decal to show up in my mail box.

 

Darn it, you leaped ahead of me.

 

I made darn sure it went out with their early pickup!
