I've heard AND seen those spots ... radio & tv. The tag line was something like, "room for another hybrid? or room for a better hybrid ... "
    EDIT:
    found the ad;
    catchy tune too
2017 Hyundai Ioniq TV Commercial, 'Hybrid Blues' - iSpot.tv
it's actually not bad ... taking a humerus dig at the Prius.
bad karma for the anti plugin ads Lexus ran a while back?
    ;)

It is very apparent that the war is real between Hyundai and Toyota......makes me want to test drive one.

Sales shows the Hyundai is making a presence but there is another: Dashboard Summary April 2017 | PriusChat
    • #2 Fusion hybrid
    • #4 RAV4
    • #5 Niro hybrid
    • #6 Prius Prime (my choice)
    • #8 Accord hybrid
    • #9 Camry hybrid
    • #10 Golf Sportwagon diesel (recall fixed)
    • #11 Ioniq hybrid
To help focus the search, do a requirements analysis:
    • Mandatory - without this, the car is not even in consideration
      • In our case, TSS-P or equal (i.e., dynamic cruise control and collision avoidance)
    • Optional - these can get assigned a score to calculate how well it meets your needs
      • seat count
      • volume
      • city MPG
      • highway MPG
      • color
      • creature comforts
      • purchase price
      • if you expect other drivers to look at your car with envy

My first car, 1966 VW MicroBus:
    • replaced cross-bias tires with radials and almost flipped it on a clover leaf when the expected pause and understeer was gone
    • 1500cc engine, 6V electrical
      • rebuilt alternator in Salt Lake City camping at RV park
    • rebuilt engine after family member had shop rag go into cooling impeller
      • permatex left a permanent leak so I didn't really have to change the oil
    • replaced vacuum advance with centrifugal distributor
    • replaced stock exhaust with header
    • carried tools, spare parts, and folded cardboard ground cover
      • spare set of plugs and grit cleaner to swap as needed
      • parked 'on curb' to adjust valve backlash
    • used 'blue book' to track mileage
    • engine and transmission in rear ... like our BMW i3-REx

I thought your broken engine mount was under the hood. Or do you drive in reverse all the time?

The BMW motor and engine are in the rear with the drive wheels. It is close to the same volume as the MicroBus. Google it up. This is why I think VW has become the new GM.

And if you still had that Microbus, you could have gotten a Model S in place of the BMW or picked up an Ioniq just for experimenting.

In 1975, the loose steering was making it a safety hazard and body rust was always the enemy. DC had implemented inspections so it was a matter of time.
