Hi guys. I live in New Zealand and bought a Toyota Prius 2010 imported from Japan in May 2016, back then with 61k km. Now, with 77k km, i just tried to turn it on this morning and I got several warnings on my panel. I plug in the READ DIAGNOSE FAULT CODE and the car's computer got me this error: P3004: High Voltage Power Resource I'll send the car tomorrow to a Hybrid Cars specialist here in New Zealand, but was wondering if any of you got this? I really hope it's not the Hybrid Battery.. too bloody expensive and a Prius with only 77k km should not get that kind of issue. Thanks Lucas
Hopefully, and I think it will, even the base hybrid warranty would cover the repair. In the link it says: Although the Hybrid Inverter assembly is covered by Toyota’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 8 years or 100,000 miles (whichever occurs first), we at Toyota care about the customers’ ownership experience. Toyota is now extending the warranty coverage for repairs related to failure of the Intelligent Power Module (IPM). The main question I would have regarding the above: which Toyota? Toyota USA for example? Also: extending is nebulous. Toyota USA issued letters to owners about a warranty extension, to 15 years with some mileage component I believe? Toyota Canada has done squat.
Exactly... Is my Prius, originated from Japan, also covered by Hybrid Warranty? That's a very good question hahaha
Just to give you guys an update about this: The mechanic says the Inverter/Converter is the issue. This is due a software upgrade in the past that it should've be done. More info about this recall here: Toyota NZ issues Prius v Hybrid recall | Stuff.co.nz Now, I'm contacting Toyota New Zealand to ask them if they can replace the part with no costs, as this is a recall that it should've been done before. LEt's see what they say....
FINAL UPDATE: We found a second hand part from Japan and installed it on my car: ZVW30 Inverter NZD $600.. not so bad.
