A quick question for Prius owners who removed the plastic hub caps. I am heading to the local Toyota dealer to have my 5k service checkup. I am going to have them remove the hubcaps and go with the alloy wheels underneath when they rotate and juice the tires.

For those who have installed their own center caps. Do these look like they will work, fit or are similar to the not so modestly priced Toyota certified center caps? They are 57mm caps.

They will work if they are the correct diameter. They just snap into the hole. They are -hub caps- , as in covering the hub. The others are -wheel covers-, as in covering the entire wheel. ;)

I bought the "expensive" Toyota ones at the dealer from the GII - cost me a whole $50 Canadian for four, which today is about $30 US.

Diameter is not the only factor though. The groove in the Gen 4 wheel is set further inward than in the Gen 2/3 wheel, so the caps designed to fit the Gen 2/3 doesn't fit in the Gen 4 without some modification.

Except it's a wrong year model. Why are you posting in the Gen IV section anyways? Lol

Nope..won't fit gen 4. Those are for older models.

Tiny Tim here again to check on my thread. My specific question was will these fit after I have the local dealership remove the hubcaps when they rotate and juice the tires? The nonsense posts such as gen 2 and gen 3 15" rims are different than Gen 4 or Gen 2 or Gen 3 owners posting in the Gen 4 forum.

I will give it the old college try and see if they fit and keep you all updated on my endeavor.

Can you pop one wheel off and try? Gen 4 for sure has shifted the groove on interior of wheel hub opening.

The reason they are "sticking out" is that the tabs on the covers aren't able to drop into a groove on the inside of the hub. Perhaps removing the wire that reinforces the tabs from moving inward will allow the tabs to flex inward enough to allow the caps to be inserted further.

Ok, back from the Toyota dealer. Got my complimentary Starbucks coffee and Coca Cola. Not a perfect fit but good enough. I do not want to risk breaking the center caps as suggested above by removing the wire to make the fit more snug. $8 worth of Chinese made plastic. I think it looks pretty good. For those who want a look at before and after.

After a short run on the freeway to get a car wash. I checked on the center caps and realized that the centrifugal force and probably laws of kinetic energy and inertia locked the center caps in. To get them of I would need a screw driver as the laws of physics worked well securing these new center caps.

Or, remove the wheels and push them out from the other side. ;)
