    So here's the story.

I looked around and even Google was like nah son you can have this result...

I have my regular '14 prius which tells me when I'm due for an oil change. But my friend has a prius c and I'm actually even wondering if it even tells you when maintenance will be required soon for oil just like the regular prius.

Now my head is thinking, around when will that get in his HUD and how do I go by resetting that light? Is it the same as the regular prius?

You do not mention what year C he has, so his manual may differ from the 2017 I chose

Resetting the message indicating maintenance is required (U.S.A. only)
After the required maintenance is performed according to the maintenance schedule, please reset the message.
To reset the message, follow the procedures described below:

Vehicles without a smart key system
Switch the display to the odometer (→ P. 99) and then turn the engine switch off.
Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position. The multi-information display's initial screen will be displayed for a few seconds. While the initial screen is being displayed, press the “TRIP” steering switch (→ P. 97) 3 times, pressing and holding the switch on the third time.

Vehicles with a smart key system
Switch the display to the odometer (→ P. 99) and then turn the “POWER” switch off.
Turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode. The multi-information display's initial screen will be displayed for a few seconds. While the initial screen is being displayed, press the “TRIP” steering switch (→ P. 97) 3 times, pressing and holding the switch on the third time.

Continue to press and hold the button until the trip meter displays “000000”.

It's a 2016 C, I'll do this when it's time to change his oil. Thank you very much.

The Prius C has one of the weirdest oil reset procedures out there, and it's different from other toyotas.

Make sure the odometer is showing, not one of the trip meters. Turn the car off. Turn it back on, and while the welcome animation is being displayed, push the trip button three times, holding it on the third press. You'll see a countdown happening where the odometer normally is. When it displays 000000, the interval is reset.

The maintained required message come on every 5,000 miles. The tires need rotation every 5k. Oil changes are every 10k.

If you use a severe duty maintenance schedule, then change the oil at every 5,000 miles.

If you're low enough usage, that months govern instead of miles, the reminder (thankfully missing on Canadian models) becomes a totally useless chore.

You would think it should be easy to program time into the system.

Audi and certain VW cars have this capability. By default the oil change is 15,000 miles or one year. You can manually specify these with a scan tool. There's also an "inspection interval" meant for taking the car back to the dealership. Back in PA I'd synchronize this one with the state inspection stickers.
